MSNBC Removes Joy Reid and Alex Wagner From Lineup — Who Is Replacing Them?
MSNBC is shaking things up: Joy Reid and Alex Wagner will no longer lead their respective time slots, our sister site Variety reports. (TVLine has reached out to network reps for confirmation.) Reid will be removed from her 7 pm slot where she currently hosts The ReidOut — which has been in the MSNBC lineup for five years. Her final episode of the show is being planned for sometime this week. The network will fill Reid's slot with Symone Sanders-Townsend, Alicia Menendez and Michael Steele; the trio currently hosts The Weekend, which airs Saturday and Sunday mornings. Wagner has already been working as a correspondent after Rachel Maddow took over hosting duties during President Trump's first 100 days in office. It's now expected that Wagner will not return as host, but is expected to stay on as a contributor. Per Variety, Jen Psaki, President Biden's former White House press secretary, is a likely replacement for Wagner, though a decision has not been finalized. Psaki joined the network in March 2023 and currently hosts shows on Sunday at noon and Monday at 8 pm. The shake-up comes amid new leadership at the network. Rebecca Kutler, a former CNN senior executive, officially became MSNBC's new president earlier this year. Are you sad to see Reid and Wagner go?
