‘Reckless and Dangerous:' Nadler Attacks Trump After DHS Detained His Staffer

Rep. Jerrold Nadler criticized Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) after officers detained a crying staff member in Nadler's district office. While protesters gathered outside an immigration courthouse, DHS officers attempted to enter Nadler's Manhattan office in the same building and accused his staff of 'harboring rioters.' The incident, first reported by Gothamist, was captured on camera. In the video, which the outlet said was recorded by a person who was monitoring activity in immigration court, DHS is seen handcuffing an unidentified staff member. 'No she did not. That is not what happened,' another staff member said off camera. 'She pushed him back,' an unidentified officer responded. 'I'm a federal officer,' a DHS official said to a staff member who was stopping him from entering a private section of the office and asking if they had a search warrant. The officer said no, they did not have a warrant, but the staff member eventually allowed him to enter the area. Nadler blasted Trump and DHS for 'aggressive and heavy-handed tactics' used in this incident and to detain others across the country. 'President Trump and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are sowing chaos in our communities, using intimidation tactics against both citizens and non-citizens in a reckless and dangerous manner. In the most recent and deeply troubling incident, DHS agents forcefully entered my Congressional office and handcuffed a member of my staff,' Nadler said in a statement released Saturday. Nadler said the officers actions demonstrate 'a deeply troubling disregard for proper legal boundaries.' 'If this can happen in a Member of Congress's office, it can happen to anyone — and it is happening,' the New York congressman said, calling on DHS and Trump to 'halt the use of these dangerous tactics.' Nadler also criticized the administration's 'use of the expedited removal process which denies due process to immigrants and citizens alike.' The detained staff member was ultimately not arrested, nor was she charged with a crime. She told Gothamist that 'everything resolved' but did not comment further. Trump Spreads Bizarre Conspiracy Theory That Biden Was Executed and Replaced by a Robot Clone

Donald Trump reposted a baseless conspiracy theory claiming Joe Biden was 'executed in 2020' and replaced with a robot clone. The president shared a post from a user on Truth Social late Saturday that alleged: 'There is no #JoeBiden – executed in 2020. #Biden clones doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities are what you see. #Democrats don't know the difference.' Similar unfounded theories about Biden have been floating around the internet for years. An eight-hour Facebook video posted in 2021 claimed that 'Biden is computer generated.' Others have more recently purported that Biden was replaced with artificial intelligence. The Truth Social account that posted the allegation that Biden is a robot has dabbled in other conspiracy theory lies, including that the 2020 election was 'stolen' as part of a 'military-grade coup' and that Trump has saved the world 'from the Satan Worshipping Deep State (DS) Global Elites.' The president's supporters encouraged the conspiracy in the replies, sharing side-by-side photos of Biden that they say are evidence he was replaced by a lookalike. One user shared a video that claimed 'Joe Biden's eyes changed from blue to black.' This is not the first conspiracy theory Trump has dabbled in, although it may be one of the weirdest. Trump has relentlessly — and falsely — claimed the 2020 election was 'rigged.' He alleged that former president Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. (and then falsely blamed Hillary Clinton for starting the birther controversy). And he has said the physical attack against Paul Pelosi, husband of former House speaker Nancy Pelosi, was staged. During the 2024 campaign, Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance repeated fabricated claims that Haitian immigrants were eating pets. These theories have all been proven untrue or have zero credible evidence to back their assertions. Members of Trump's administration have also pushed conspiracy theory lies into the mainstream. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., has shared debunked claims, including that vaccines cause autism and that condensation emitted by airplanes is actually made up of harmful chemicals (a.k.a. chemtrails). These high-profile endorsements have arguably led to more people believing in them, including state legislators in Louisiana who recently voted to ban chemtrails. Trump's FBI Director Kash Patel has frequently endorsed the beliefs of QAnon, a specious conspiracy theory that alleges the U.S. government is run by a 'Deep State' pedophile ring of Satan worshipers. Trump to Pardon Reality TV Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, Who Were Convicted of Fraud, Tax Evasion

President Donald Trump said he will pardon reality TV stars Julie and Todd Chrisley, who were convicted of conspiracy to defraud banks out of more than $30 million in 2022. Trump's Communications Advisor Margo Martin posted a video to social platform X on Tuesday of the president speaking on the phone to the couple's daughter, Savannah Chrisley, announcing the news of their pardons. 'It's a terrible thing, but it's a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow,' Trump told Savannah in the video. 'We're try getting it done tomorrow. I don't know them, but give them my regards and wish them a good life.' Before Julie and Todd Chrisley became reality stars, prosecutors previously alleged, the couple used falsified documents to obtain fraudulent loans, then took out more fraudulent loans to pay off their old ones. The couple was also convicted of tax evasion, with prosecutors alleging they defaulted on more than $20 million in debt when Todd declared bankruptcy in 2012. Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, Julie to seven, and the couple's accountant, Peter Tarantino, also received three years for his role in the scheme. The Chrisleys were ordered to pay $17.8 million in restitution. In the press release announcing their 2022 prison sentence, U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said 'their lengthy sentences reflect the magnitude of their criminal scheme and should serve as a warning to others tempted to exploit our nation's community banking system for unlawful personal gain.' Last summer, a three-judge panel on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that a trial judge had incorrectly calculated Chrisley's sentence by holding her accountable for the whole bank fraud scheme. The appellate panel sent her case back to the lower court so her she could be resentenced. She was resentenced to seven years in prison by a federal judge last September for her conviction on bank fraud and tax evasion charges, declining her appeal for a reduced sentence. Trump Preps for Putin Call With Another Meltdown Over Bruce Springsteen

President Donald Trump has demanded an investigation into Bruce Springsteen and other artists who supported former Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, after the singer has repeatedly told crowds at his concerts that the president is an 'unfit' man running 'a rogue government.' The president — who is scheduled to hold a high-stakes phone call with Russia's Vladimir Putin on Monday morning — wrote on Truth Social early the same morning that he was 'going to call for a major investigation' into what compensation Springsteen received from the 2024 Harris campaign. 'HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN'T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION?' Trump wrote. The president, who had previously used Springsteen's music at his rallies despite objections from the artist, went on to accuse the Harris campaign of paying for endorsements from artists like Springsteen, Beyoncé, and Bono, under the guise of providing entertainment at her rallies. 'IT'S NOT LEGAL! For these unpatriotic 'entertainers,' this was just a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!' Artists like Beyoncé, Eminem, Oprah, and others have denied right-wing claims that they were offered millions to endorse Harris. Trump has been locked in a public back and forth with Springsteen over the artist's criticism of his regime. After the 'Born in the USA' rocker told concert goers in Europe that the United States is currently in the hands of a 'corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration,' Trump responded last week with a bizarre warning for Springsteen: 'This dried out 'prune' of a rocker (his skin is atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that's just 'standard fare.' Then we'll all see how it goes for him!' Springsteen, unfettered, responded to the thinly veiled threats by telling fans in Manchester, England, over the weekend: 'In America, my home, they're persecuting people for their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. That's happening now.' It's apparently happening to Springsteen, who now might be placed under investigation for the transgression of supporting the political candidate of his choice and exercising his constitutionally protected right to criticize his government.
