Budding Wexford artists excel with exhibition – ‘The art of young children should always be shown in a gallery setting'
Budding young artists ranging in age from just two years-old all the way up to 16 had the thrill of seeing their work formally exhibited in the stunning surroundings of The Raven's Nest Gallery upstairs in The Maker's House on the quay recently.
Looking out at the fabulous panoramic views of Wexford Harbour, the youngsters found inspiration to make drawings of harbours, boats, the Ballast Bank, Wexford Bridge, people, animals, birds and plenty more besides.
The exhibition included the original pencil and crayon drawings made on National Drawing Day a few weeks ago. Long since washed away, there was also a photographic record of fabulous life-size chalk drawings the children made on the pavement of themselves and family members.
'I have always felt that the art of young children should be shown in a gallery setting whenever possible,' organiser Mary Wallace said. 'You should see the excitement on their faces as they show their work to friends and family having so much to say about their piece.'
