The Pablo Torre-Bill Simmons 'feud' has reached its inevitable podcast

Pablo Torre has a few questions for Bill Simmons and it appears he's headed over to The Ringer's podcast studios to get some answers. After Torre and Simmons traded barbs over the former's Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson reporting, the Pablo Torre Finds Out host is reportedly going to sit down with Simmons on The Bill Simmons Podcast to clear the air — or dirty it up some more. According to Meadowlark Media's Dan Le Batard at the start of his Tuesday show, "Pablo Torre will be appearing on Bill Simmons' podcast here." And considering PTFO is a Meadowlark Media production, the sourcing seems pretty solid. The fact that Torre is going on Simmons' show, instead of the other way around, is a bit notable. It was Simmons who fired off criticism of Torre's reporting on Belichick during a recent episode of The Ringer's The Rewatchables. When word got back around to PTFO, Torre made it known he had a few questions for Simmons about the Hudson-Belichick drama and invited The Ringer founder over to PTFO for a chat. It's hard to know what to expect here, or if Simmons will return the favor by going on Torre's show, but it is undoubtedly good the two will at least have a chance to clear the air — and it's even better for fans of both who get a chance to hear the discussion. Hopefully the episode is dropping soon.

Bill Simmons trashes Pablo Torre over Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson reporting

Bill Simmons strayed a bit from the topic at hand in a recent podcast episode. Simmons' May 27 episode of 'The Rewatchables' was focused on the 1978 movie 'Heaven Can Wait.' But 'The Ringer' founder forged a connection regarding the film and its character, Leo Farnsworth, and former ESPN journalist Pablo Torre's reporting on UNC football coach Bill Belichick's polarizing relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson. 4 Bill Simmons ripped Pablo Torre on a recent episode of 'The Rewatchables.' Getty Images 'Pablo Torre would've done a long podcast about Leo Farnsworth trying to practice with the team, and then done a media tour about it afterwards,' Simmons said, shocking his co-hosts. 'I've never seen anybody dine on a stupider story for a week and a half while pretending you're a journalist. What the f–k was that? Seriously.' Torre has led the way for the past month in uncovering details surrounding UNC's relationship with Hudson, as she seemingly butts her way into the spotlight while Belichick looks to field a competitive Tar Heel team in the upcoming season. 4 Pablo Torre has spearheaded the reporting of Bill Belichick's relationship with Jordon Hudson. Getty Images for The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) Torre has dedicated numerous episodes of his show, 'Pablo Torre Finds Out,' to revealing details about the controversial relationship, many of which became a battle of his word versus the university's. He has gone as far as recently hinting at suing UNC if they don't comply with his public record requests related to the football program. 4 Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson attend the 14th Annual NFL Honors at Saenger Theatre in February. Getty Images As for Simmons, he is a Boston native, giving him more of a reason to defend Belichick and his controversial relationship, as the head coach led the Patriots to six Super Bowl wins throughout the years. 'Belichick's dating a girl. 'Oh, let me do nine shows about it,'' Simmons said, mocking Torre. 'Settle the f–k down … You don't need to do a media tour about a f–king podcast.' Simmons' co-hosts Chris Ryan and Van Lathan were baffled by the cutthroat comments toward Torre. 'It was a story that everybody was talking about to be fair,' Lathan responded to Simmons' rant. 4 Bill Belichick is entering his first season as a collegiate head coach. Getty Images 'That's fine. Maybe do two shows about it,' Simmons replied. As long as the 73-year-old head coach's relationship stays alive with Hudson, Torre's relentless reporting likely won't slow down — even if he does catch some flak from fellow sports media personalities like Simmons.

Spotify signs Bill Simmons to a new deal

'I've been in enough work situations at this point that you just kinda know when you're in the right spot,' Simmons said in the statement. 'I think all of us are motivated to do something pretty special in the talk and video space.' Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up Simmons joined Spotify in 2020 when the streaming service purchased his company, the Ringer, for about $250 million. Chief Executive Officer Daniel Ek was expanding Spotify from music into new kinds of audio and spent more than $1 billion acquiring podcasting companies and the exclusive rights to hit shows like The Joe Rogan Experience and Call Her Daddy. Advertisement The investment attracted tens of millions of listeners and turned Spotify into one of the most powerful audio platforms in podcasting. Spotify also spent a lot of money on shows that didn't deliver a large audience and has since scaled back its investment. The founders of many of the companies Spotify acquired have since left, including Parcast's Max Cutler, Gimlet Media's Matt Lieber and Alex Blumberg and Anchor's Michael Mignano. The Ringer stands out as one of Spotify's more successful acquisitions. The company makes several popular sports and pop-culture shows that cost very little to produce and have large audiences, including The Bill Simmons Podcast and The Rewatchables. The Ringer continues to add new programs that broaden its portfolio, including Derek Thompson's current affairs show Plain English and a forthcoming podcast from actress Amy Poehler. The Ringer is now rolling out video versions of many shows, including Simmons' podcast. Spotify hopes adding video will bring in more advertising dollars and increase the amount of time users spend in the app. It faces competition from YouTube. Advertisement Spotify was among the top-performing media stocks last year, rising 138%. The shares have continued higher this year, fueled by better-than-expected subscriber growth and the company's first-ever annual profit.
