How Savannah Chrisley buddied up with the Trumps and helped secure freedom for her parents

Shortly after Julie and Todd Chrisley were sent to federal prison in Nov. 2022, their daughter Savannah took a gamble. She 'came out' as a Republican and started to publicly cozy up to the Trump family as part of her strategy to free her mom and dad, sentenced to seven and 12 years respectively for bank and tax fraud of over $30m in loans. This week it was finally realized as President Trump pardoned them both and they are already back at home with their family. 7 Savannah Chrisley appears to be the mastermind behind her parents' presidential pardon. AP However, that dream was still distant in September 2023 when Savannah, 27, appeared on Lara Trump's 'The Right View' podcast to talk about her parents' plight and prison reform. She made sure to mention how Fulton County, Georgia, prosecutors started her parents' trial by calling them the 'Trumps of the South' — a line she would go on to repeat many times while campaigning for their release. She added to Lara, wife of Eric Trump: 'For me that was, it should scare people, that we have prosecutors using such a polarizing statement to potentially sway the jurors.' Savannah was also honest about being new to prison reform, telling the host: 'I'm like the poster child for being tone-deaf to our [prison] system. It didn't affect me, why should I care? And then, as my parents are in there and they start telling me these things, I'm like, wait a second, it's 115 degrees and you have no air conditioning.' 7 Todd and Julie Chrisley were both released from prison on Wednesday, thanks to their daughter's advocacy. The Right View Judging by their interactions on the podcast, it appeared to be the first time the ladies had spoken with each other. Getting Savannah on the show was also quite a big score for Lara's podcast, which has a following of 28,000 on Instagram, far less than Savannah's own podcast which has 156,000 followers and gets an average of around 100,000 more views on YouTube per show than 'The Right View.' From there the two ladies seem to have formed a strong bond, and Savannah became one of the more prominent celebrity voices behind then-candidate Trump. She started donning pink MAGA hats and putting her political views to her almost three million personal Instagram followers, which she says resulted in 'lost deals' from sponsors. 7 Savannah Chrisley appears to have visited the White House twice this year. Savannah Chrisley/ Instagram She then appeared at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July 2024, where her speech focused on the 'injustices' her parents suffered in prison and the 'inhumane' treatment they had been subject to, which was later hailed as 'powerful'. Savannah appeared alongside Lara again at a Women for Trump rally in Phoenix in October 2024 and earlier this month their relationship went full circle as she appeared on Fox's 'My View with Lara Trump' to again speak about prison reform. She followed that appearance up with an Instagram post calling Lara 'my sweet friend.' Savannah also appears to have visited the White House twice during the Trump presidency, in March and in April, while she golfed at Trump National Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida, in May. 7 President Trump personally called Savannah Chrisley to inform her about the pardon on Tuesday. Savannah Chrisley/ Instagram 7 President Trump pardoned Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted of plotting to defraud banks. Savannah Chrisley/ Instagram Now her parents have been freed, others in their orbit say they hope the Chrisleys will continue their fight on behalf of the incarcerated and wrongly convicted. 'Savannah presents herself as an advocate for prison reform, but time will tell if her advocacy is real or limited to advocating only for her parents,' Peter Tarantino, the family's accountant who was convicted alongside Julie and Todd, but not pardoned, told The Post. Tarantino, who was sentenced to three years and paid a $35,000 fine, added 'I absolutely deserve a pardon,' and said he has also been contacting the president's office. 7 The family's accountant Peter Tarantino is seeking a pardon from the president. 'I don't have the platform or resources the Chrisley's have, but I intend to pursue my options… They used their platform [to] profess their innocence but never made any statements that benefited me,' he added. However, he added of Savannah: 'I think she did what any daughter would do in a similar situation.' What does it take to get a personal pardon for your parents from the President of the United States? Apparently years of cozying up to the Trump family.

Lara Trump, President's Daughter-In-Law, To Host New Fox News Weekend Show

Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump and former co-chair of the Republican National Committee, is joining Fox News to host a new weekend show. Trump's show, My View with Lara Trump, will air on Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET starting on Feb. 22. She also has hosted a web series, The Right View, since 2020. Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, said in a statement, 'A gifted communicator who knows how to connect to the viewers, successful entrepreneur and working mother, Lara's innate understanding of the American public and today's political landscape will be a compelling addition to our weekend lineup.' Trump's new assignment is the latest example of a revolving door between the network and Trump's team, albeit that has occurred in previous administrations as well. Pete Hegseth, the new secretary of defense, formerly was a co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, a role for which he made about $4.6 million in the past two years, according to financial disclosure reports. Another Fox personality, Sean Duffy, also left the network to become the secretary of transportation. Tulsi Gabbard, whose nomination to be the next director of national intelligence cleared a key committee on Tuesday, was a contributor for the network. During Joe Biden's administration, Jen Psaki left her role as White House press secretary and became an MSNBC host. Symone Sanders joined the network after she was chief spokesperson for Vice President Kamala Harris. Lara Trump also is not the first presidential relative to get a hosting gig from a major network. Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of George W. Bush, hosts the fourth hour of NBC's Today, while Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, was a special correspondent for NBC. Hager and Clinton took those roles after their fathers left office. My View with Lara Trump seems likely to present Trump's presidency in a positive light. Fox News said that the show will 'focus on the return of common sense to all corners of American life as the country ushers in a new era of practicality.' In her statement, Lara Trump borrowed a term from her father-in-law's inaugural address, saying, 'I'm thrilled to bring my voice back to Fox News, talk directly with the American people, and highlight what makes this country so great. As I cover the success of The Golden Age of America, I look forward to where this time will lead our country and where this opportunity will lead me in the future.' Her show will replace One Nation with Brian Kilmeade, which will be moved to Sunday at 10 p.m. The New York Times first reported on Trump's new show. Lara Trump to Host Saturday-Night Show on Fox News

Lara Trump, daughter-in-law to President Donald Trump, will host a new Saturday-night primetime show on Fox News Channel, putting the outlet in the unusual position of backing a primetime opinion host with direct connections to a sitting Commander-in-Chief on its schedule. Trump will anchor 'My View,' which Fox News said would 'focus on the return of common sense to all corners of American life as the country ushers in a new era of practicality.' The show is expected to feature both analysis and 'interviews with thought leaders, shedding light on the headlines driving the national conversation and affecting families around the country.' MSNBC offers a program with similar concepts, 'Inside With Jen Psaki,' the former White House Press Secretary for President Joe Biden, which runs Sundays and Mondays. It could also be a complicated one. News organizations like CNN and MSNBC have had to pivot when anchors with relatives who were politicians came under scrutiny. At MSNBC, for example, Alicia Melendez in 2023 had to recuse herself on air from coverage of her father, then-Senator Bob Melendez, after he was indicted on criminal charges for abuses of power. CNN found itself under unwanted scrutiny in 2021 when Chris Cuomo, brother of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, was found to have helped his sibling when he was facing claims of sexual abuse. Lara Trump recently served as the Republican National Committee's co-chair, and was a senior adviser to the Trump campaign during the 2020 presidential election. While her knowledge of and access to the current Trump administration will no doubt be valuable for Fox News Channel, her close connection to the White House is likely to mean she will have less independence from it. All of Fox News' primetime hosts are conservative, but some on occasion, including Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity, take issue with some White House policies. Indeed, Fox News enjoys a narrower degree of separation from the Trump administration these days, owing to the fact that two former anchors, Pete Hegesth and Sean Duffy, have been approved to serve as the U.S. Secretary of Defense and the U.S. Secretary of Transportation. Lara Trump has worked for Fox News in the past. She worked as a contributor to Fox News between 2021 and 2022. She has hosted a web series ,'The Right View,' since 2020,which features a panel of conservative women discussing various social and political issues.
