Now open in Rochester: Starlight Cafe & Convenience
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Now open in Rochester's South Wedge: Starlight. The convenience store and deli is at the former Highland Market, 830 South Ave. That business closed in August.
Starlight is owned and operated by Sobab Bhatti, who owns four other convenience stores in the Rochester area.
The inside has seen a refresh, and like Highland, Starlight kept the deli offerings: complete with breakfast sandwiches, cold subs, and their specialty:
The Roc Chopped Cheese. It has the same goods as a loaded cheeseburger on a hoagie-style bun, made with cocoa bread.
Bhatti opened here three weeks ago, as he says the wedge needed another convenience option.
'If you look around, there's not much around here,' he said. 'So there was an opportunity there, and serving the community at the same time, we're trying our best to listen to what people have to say, any suggestions… That's the goal, to be part of the community, and grow with the community together.'
Bhatti added that as the business grows, they may bring in guest chefs cooking up their own cuisine. Starlight is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
