Former owner of The Silo Restaurant passes away
(WIVT/WBGH) – It is a sad day for former customers of an iconic restaurant in the Town of Greene.
Gary Kurz, former owner of The Silo Restaurant, passed away earlier this week. Kurz's son announced the news in a Facebook post.
Kurz and his family owned and operated the establishment for nearly five decades after his parents took over the property in the early 70′s. Known for its extensive menu and delicious food, The Silo quickly became a staple in Chenango County.
In November 2021, the restaurant burned down. After two years, it was purchased and transformed into The Silo Retreat.
Several local restaurant owners also took to Facebook to express their condolences for the Kurz family.
Kurz's son says the funeral will be held in Greene. Details will soon be announced.
