Dave Grohl, Cynthia Erivo Join Gustavo Dudamel and LA Phil at Coachella

The Los Angeles Philharmonic led by conductor Gustavo Dudamel was in full swing on Saturday for the second weekend of Coachella after appearing last weekend. It was a star-studded affair, which included surprise performances by Dave Grohl and Cynthia Erivo. The Foo Fighters frontman hit the stage with his guitar and he delivered two of his band's songs, including the grittily sung 'The Sky Is a Neighborhood' and merged the classical with the classic on 'Everlong.' She began with the ballad that appeared from the lyrics to be 'Brick by Brick,' a track from her upcoming sophomore album, I Forgive You. 'Hello Coachella, nice to see you. Would you like a little Prince?' Erivo asked following 'Brick by Brick.' The crowd cheered. 'OK, Prince for you then.' She then launched into a rousing cover of 'Purple Rain' to close out the LA Phil set, as the fan footage below captured. Previously announced guest Natasha Bedingfield also performed, delivering 'Unwritten.' Other performers who appeared during the LA Phil's Coachella set last weekend returned on Saturday, including Laufey and Paco Amoroso and Ca7riel. The first weekend of Coachella featured a finale with LL Cool J, who dropped a medley that included 'Rock the Bells' and 'Mama Said Knock You Out.' The LA Phil sets the past two weekends marked the orchestra's Coachella debut. It's Dudamel's final season with LA Phil. Dave Grohl performs Foo Fighters songs at Coachella for first time since affair and baby drama

Dave Grohl is back in a Foo groove. The singer-guitarist delivered orchestral renditions of Foo Fighters faves 'Everlong' and 'The Sky Is a Neighborhood' at Coachella on Saturday. The surprise appearance — with Venezuelan maestro Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Outdoor Theatre of the Indio, California festival — was the first time the 56-year-old rocker returned to his Foo frontman role since the Post exclusively confirmed the mother of his love child's identity as Jennifer Young. The trio was also joined by Post Malone at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert in February. But Grohl hadn't performed any Foo Fighters songs live since making the shock announcement about his newborn out of wedlock. Advertisement 'I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,' Grohl wrote in an Instagram post in Sept. 2024. 'I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. 'I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,' continued Grohl, who has three other children with wife Jordyn Blum. 'We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.' In February, The Post broke the news that Young — a Florida-born rock 'n' roll fan who now resides in Los Angeles — was the mother of Grohl's new daughter. And records obtained by The Post showed that their nearly 9-month-old child — who Young is raising in a modest house with her own mother — has Grohl's last name. 5 Jennifer Young confirmed to The Post that she was the mother of Dave Grohl's love child in February. Dave Grohl Performs 'Everlong' with LA Philharmonic at Coachella

The post Dave Grohl Performs 'Everlong' with LA Philharmonic at Coachella appeared first on Consequence. Dave Grohl made a surprise appearance during weekend two of Coachella, joining Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic to perform renditions of Foo Fighters' 'The Sky Is a Neighborhood' and 'Everlong.' The set also featured guest appearances from Cynthia Erivo, who covered Prince's 'Purple Rain,' Laufey, Natasha Bedingfield, and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Venezuelan-born Dudamel called Coachella a 'dream' gig, adding that it 'represents a journey of making music accessible to everybody, but also creating a culture where people don't feel that classical music is far away, not part of their lives.' It also marked the culmination of Dudamel's 17-year tenure as conductor of the LA Phil, as he'll be departing to lead the New York Philharmonic next year. As for Grohl, his appearance with the LA Phil marked his first time performing Foo Fighters songs since August 2024. Editor's Note: Head here for more coverage of Coachella 2025.
