Black Community Honors Awards to recognize local leaders
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) —The Black Community Honors Awards will celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to the African American community, both locally and nationally.
Hosted by Black Community Honors, the event is set for Feb. 22, at 409 William Street in Elmira. Light refreshments and a social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and the ceremony will follow at 6 p.m.
18 Storm team meteorologist Alivia Colón will be a mistress of ceremonies. The following individuals and their awards are listed below:
The Spirit Award: Dr. Wilma Hughey
The Family Award: Malika and Michael Blanford
The Young People Community Award: Dominick Horton-Miller
The Icon Award: Danny Watson and Gordon Hills
The Community Award: Talima Aaron
The Outstanding Business Award: Cairo Shazer
