Meghan Markle Shares Her No. 1 Rule for Baby Names: 'I Will Say This to Every Woman in the World'

Meghan Markle revealed her advice when it comes to choosing a baby name during the season finale episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder The Duchess of Sussex has previously spoken about the name meanings for her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Meghan also compared it to naming a business, after changing her brand's name from American Riviera Orchard to As everMeghan Markle has some wise advice for parents-to-be. In the season finale episode of her Lemonada Media podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, which dropped on May 27, the Duchess of Sussex hosted Spanx founder Sara Blakely in a conversation about navigating motherhood and launching a business. Meghan, 43, compared starting a brand to a "SurveyMonkey" due to the pressure to get "everyone's approval." "You're like, 'What do you think?' " the Duchess of Sussex said. "It's no different — I will say this to every woman in the world or every person in the world who's going to have a child — if you have an idea about what you are going to name that baby, you keep it so close to your heart, until that baby is born and it's named. Don't ask anyone's opinion," she continued. Meghan is a mom to a son, Prince Archie, 6, and a daughter, Princess Lilibet, 3, with her husband, Prince Harry. Meghan and Harry did discuss the idea of their daughter's name with the royal family, as it was inspired by his grandmother Queen Elizabeth's childhood nickname. A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously told PEOPLE, "The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement, in fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called. During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honor. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name." When it came to their son, the couple revealed in 2022 that they were choosing between Archie and Harrison as his first name, and they ended up choosing to use Harrison as a middle name. On the podcast, Meghan said naming a baby was "not dissimilar to naming your company." The Duchess of Sussex initially revealed her lifestyle brand would be called American Riviera Orchard, but she later changed the name to As ever. Can't get enough of PEOPLE's Royals coverage? to get the latest updates on Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and more! In an Instagram video, she said, "Last year, I had thought, 'American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name.' It's my neighborhood; it's a nickname for Santa Barbara, but it limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area. Then Netflix came on, not just as my partner in the show, but as my partner in my business. which was huge. So I thought about it, and I've been waiting for a moment to share a name that I had secured in 2022, and this is the moment, and it's called As Ever." "As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do," she says. "And I haven't been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can, so as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first." American Airlines flight attendant reads aloud handwritten note from Meghan Markle

An American Airlines flight attendant has revealed a heartfelt note Meghan Markle had shared with the crew during her recent commercial flight. Flight attendant Nina Vida took to TikTok to read out a handwritten thank-you note Meghan gave the crew after Vida and her co-workers expressed their happiness at getting the chance to serve the Duchess of Sussex. Vida's now-viral TikTok video is captioned, 'No picture but I love a hand written note.' 'You guys will not believe who I had on my flight, who I had a pleasure of serving,' Vida said in the video from her hotel room. 'The queen, the princess, the Duchess of Sussex.' Vida said Meghan was 'beautiful' in person, and praised her for being 'so sweet.' She said that Meghan shared the note with the crew after they gave her a handwritten note that read, 'It's a pleasure serving you! Love you real bad.' The crew's note was signed off as the 'AA girlies.' 'Dear AA girlies, thank you for the love, hospitality and handwritten note — you know me well,' Meghan wrote in return. 'All love right back to you.' Vida added that Meghan signed off with 'Forever, Meg.' Vida also opened up about her brief personal exchange with Meghan, saying the Duchess complimented her manicure. 'She also said she loved my nails, and the captain on my last flight said they were intense,' Vida explained. 'So, sir, it doesn't matter what you think. The queen says she likes them.' Meghan is known for being very fond of handwritten notes. Years ago, she wrote in her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, that 'handwritten notes are a lost art form.' 'The idea of someone taking the time to put pen to paper is really special,' Meghan said at the time.

EXCLUSIVE Body language expert reveals the meaning behind Meghan Markle's uncomfortable 14 second encounter with audience at 'awkward' conference

At the 2016 Create and Cultivate blogger conference in Atlanta, Meghan Markle found herself in an awkward moment while discussing her website, The Tig. At that time, she was balancing her acting career on Suits with blogging and was given the opportunity to speak about her experiences and insights into the industry. However, when the Q&A session was opened to the audience, an uncomfortable silence followed. Body language expert Judi James analysed Meghan's gestures and movements, noting clear signs of discomfort during the interaction. Reviewing the clip, Judi observed: 'There is an awkward amount of gap-filling to cover the fourteen seconds before someone steps up, and in that time, we see Meghan display a range of responses, including what appears to be possible exasperation and a wry, asymmetric smile.' She pointed out that Meghan initially appeared confident in front of the audience, sitting with her legs crossed and at one point raising one knee - suggesting she had no desire to create a barrier with her posture. 'Her elbows propped out on the arms of her chair in an authoritative splay ritual while her left hand lightly rested on her thigh as she addressed the audience in a friendly, rapport-building manner, referring to them as 'You guys'.' A skilled host typically prepares backup questions or even plants audience members with pre-written queries, but this was clearly not the case for Meghan's interview. 'Every speaker knows the mild dread that comes with the 'Any questions?' moment where, no matter how engaging and informative you have been, there is always the risk of a tumbleweed silence that can suggest a lack of interest,' Judi explained. As no immediate questions arose, Meghan quickly interjected, 'They have no questions, they just want their cocktails,' using the distancing word 'they' to create a 'subtle rapport gap'. 'She looks at her host and steps in to fill the silence, saying 'I'm a chatty girl' as her hand flops from the wrist - hinting at that sense of exasperation. 'She then raises her eyebrows and adds, 'Not even a question about Mike Ross, that surprises me!' while adopting an aloof hand gesture, palm facing the audience, to match the raised brows.' Eventually, a woman in the audience asked a question: 'Today, I've noticed we've talked a lot about motivation and following your gut. Meghan, I was wondering if you could speak a little about navigating feminism within conservative business environments.' At this moment, Meghan placed a hand on her forehead and laughed, having just been discussing how many people had offered her champagne. 'Once she receives a question about feminism, Meghan seems keen to re-boot her status following what might have been misinterpreted as a lack of enthusiasm,' Judi noted. She then shifted the conversation, referencing her past work: 'I had written an article for the Irish Independent, which is a big newspaper in Ireland, about that exact thing because I had been really fortunate enough to meet with a lot of incredibly powerful women. Meghan attends Elle's 6th Annual Women in Television Dinner in Los Angeles in January 2016 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement at The Sunken Gardens at Kensington Palace in November 2017 after dating for a year 'Of course, you can still be a woman, and want to present yourself well, and look beautiful, and it doesn't lessen the fact you're standing up for something that's incredibly important.' According to Judi, once back on track, Meghan's body language conveyed a 'purring of enjoyment' as she referenced speaking engagements, high-profile figures like Angela Merkel, and her work with the UN - seemingly regaining control of the moment. Meghan's blog, which launched in 2014 and closed eight years ago, was named after her favourite Tignanello wine. Embracing the role of editor-in-chief, she used the website to share her views on topics ranging from feminism to her passion for philanthropy. She also shared recipes, make-up and beauty tips, travel advice, and interviews with celebrity friends, including Serena Williams and Priyanka Chopra.

Meghan Markle shares true feelings about estranged dad in resurfaced blog post

As Thomas Markle starts a new life in the Philippines in a bid to find 'peace', the Mirror looks back at Meghan's revealing blog entry that detailed her feelings about her father before their relationship tragically broke down The breakdown between Meghan Markle and her father, Thomas Markle Senior, has been well documented, and the distance between them has now reached new heights. Thomas recently moved to the Philippines in search of a fresh start, with the hope of living the rest of his life "in peace." Meghan's half-brother Thomas Junior is living with their father in a $500-a-month high-rise apartment in Cebu, which is over 7,000 miles away from the Sussex family home in California and the pair are said to be "firmly supporting" each other in this new chapter. Thomas Sr was recently pictured outside his new home where he was seen to be "struggling" with the heat. ‌ "There are only two types of weather in Cebu: hot and humid, and hot and humid and raining. It's brutal even for men half his age, but it's still sad to see him looking as though he's struggling," a source told the Mirror, adding, "Thomas and his son only recently moved into the property and they are still finding their feet in Cebu after the big move abroad, but they're here together and are firmly supporting each other." ‌ Meghan's father - a former Hollywood lighting director - has undergone a series of health problems in recent years, including two heart attacks and a stroke, but he is seemingly no closer to making peace with the Duchess after their relationship swiftly broke down in the lead up to her wedding to Prince Harry back in 2018. This also means he is reported to have never met his grandchildren, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three. When Meghan's engagement to Prince Harry was announced, she was quickly catapulted to new heights of fame, despite already being a well-known actress in her own right. Ahead of her wedding, Thomas Sr staged a series of paparazzi photos and Meghan later revealed he then lied to her about cooperating and being paid by the photographers, and that she found out he wasn't coming to her wedding "through a tabloid". In Harry and Meghan's self-titled Netflix documentary series, Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, 68, said she was left "absolutely stunned" at her ex's actions, adding that "as a parent, that's not what you do. That's not parenting." Whilst the Duchess hasn't spoken to her father in a very long time, heartbreaking posts written by Meghan many years before their estrangement on her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig, detailed that they used to share a seriously sweet bond, and that for a long time she held her father in the highest esteem - making the breakdown of their relationship in recent years even more tragic. ‌ In one post written to mark Father's Day, Meghan absolutely gushed over her "inspiring" father, even sharing some sweet childhood memories of him. "Our club sandwich and fruit smoothie tradition post my tap and ballet class - classes, which by the way, he religiously took me to on Saturday mornings after working 75+ hours a week as a lighting director," Meghan wrote, adding that he made sure to use his professional lighting expertise to help elevate her theatrical performances when she was a schoolgirl, making them "as grand as a Broadway show". ‌ Meghan ended the emotional post by writing: "To my dad - my thoughtful, inspiring, hardworking Daddy - Happy Father's Day. 'If I had all the water in the world, I'd give all the water to you…' (You won't get that quote, but he will. And for Father's Day, that's all that matters)." In another post, she described how one year for Christmas, Thomas Sr went above and beyond to make sure that the family of dolls he was buying his daughter reflected her biracial family and heritage, and that he "broke the rules" to do so and ensure she was pleased with her gift. ‌ "On Christmas morning, swathed in glitter-flecked wrapping paper, there I found my Heart Family: a black mom doll, a white dad doll, and a child in each color. My dad had taken the sets apart and customized my family," Meghan explained. "I picture him standing there in Toys R Us, moms glaring at him for taking the toys apart, perhaps an employee saying 'excuse me sir, you can't do that' — as my dad carefully separated the boxed sets to make one that echoed my reality. One that showed me that I should (and could) make my own box," she wrote about the meaningful gift. The dire extent of their relationship breakdown was revealed in the bombshell sit-down with Oprah back in 2021. Meghan opened up about the derailment of their bond, admitting, "I grieve a lot," as she reflected on the loss of her relationship with her father. Prince Harry has called it "incredibly sad" that the pair are now estranged. Get Royal Family updates straight to your WhatsApp! Meghan and Harry enjoy date night at superstar's show

Meghan and Prince Harry were among the audience at Beyonce's recent Los Angeles concert, with the couple enjoying a date night at the pop superstar's show. Meghan, 43, took to social media to share pictures of her and Harry, 40, enjoying themselves at the Cowboy Carter Tour gig on Friday. "About last night... Thank you @beyonce and team for an amazing concert (and a very fun date night)! All love," Meghan wrote. The royal's post also included a video of her sharing a kiss with Harry and a snap of her husband's cowboy hat that had the names of their children - Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three - as well as his nickname for Meghan, "My Love". The former Suits actor - who was known as Meghan Markle before she married the prince in 2018 - recently explained that she felt the couple had entered a second "honeymoon period" of their relationship as she embarked on her new lifestyle venture As Ever. Harry and Meghan stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2020 and relocated to California. "My husband met me when I had The Tig (her former blog), and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing this thing that I was doing when he first met me," Meghan told People in March. "It's almost like a honeymoon period again because it's exactly how it was in the beginning when he'd watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits and just really being in the details of it. "I think he loves watching as much as I love doing that creative process. It's just been fun. This is who I've always been." Meghan recently likened her relationship with Harry to the Super Mario Bros video games because she knows he will do whatever is necessary to keep their family "safe and protected". "It's not something to be taken for granted when you have a partner, a spouse, who is just so behind you," she said. "H, that man loves me so much. Look what we've built? We have a beautiful life, we have two healthy children. "I always think about it like the end of Super Mario Bros. When you get to the final level and they say, 'Slay the dragon, save the princess'. I'm like, that's my husband. "He's constantly going to do whatever he can to make sure that our family is safe and protected, and we're uplifted and still make time for date nights."
