Shipley's Topic Folk Club to host folk musician Henry Parker
A folk musician is set to perform at The Topic Folk Club in Shipley. Henry Parker will play at the club, situated at Hullabaloo (41 Westgate), on Thursday, April 10. Parker has recorded two albums, Silent Spring and Lammas Fair, and curated a tribute album to Michael Chapman. A spokesperson for The Topic Folk Club said: "Henry Parker's contemporary take on folk, which he explores via thoughtful yet deeply accomplished guitar playing, unfurls and moves much like the landscape itself." Parker will be supported by Heslop & Stringer, a Yorkshire-based duo who released their first album, New Beginnings, in November 2022. Tickets are £9 or £6 for members:

Skinner & T'witch and Andrew Metheven to perform at Topic Folk Club
A Shipley folk club has announced its upcoming guest performers. On March 13, The Topic Folk Club, which meets at Hullabaloo, 41 Westgate, Shipley, will host Skinner & T'witch, with support from Andrew Metheven. Skinner & T'witch combine comedy and satire with folk, flamenco, and theatre-style songs, and draw on music-hall and vaudeville traditions. Andrew Metheven writes lo-fi folk "from the hills and the concrete." He released his debut EP, A Quiet Life, in March 2022 and his first album, Sister Winter, in June 2024.
