‘Bows open road trip with win at Santa Clara
The University of Hawai'i baseball team kicked off its eight-game, two-week road trip with a hard-fought victory on Tuesday night, defeating Santa Clara behind a late-inning rally and continued dominance when leading after six innings.
Tied at 3-3 in the seventh, Ben Ziegler-Namoa sparked a rally with his second hit of the night, igniting a 7-8-9 'Bow Warrior time' surge for the Rainbow Warriors.
Jared Quandt followed with the go-ahead RBI single, lifting UH to a lead it wouldn't relinquish.
With the win, Hawai'i improved to 17-0 this season when leading after six innings.
Max Jones earned the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Matt Miura contributed two hits, one RBI, and scored twice for the 'Bows.
Hawai'i (23-8) continues its road swing with a key three-game Big West series this weekend against conference-unbeaten Cal Poly, running Friday through Sunday.
