Hugh Laurie to Star in Apple TV+ Thriller THE WANTED MAN with Thandiwe Newton — GeekTyrant
Hugh Laurie is heading back into the world of TV and this time he's running a crime empire. The House star is set to lead The Wanted Man , a new Apple TV+ thriller series from Hijack creator George Kay. The show centers on Felix Carmichael (Laurie), a criminal kingpin who's managed to stay untouchable for two decades as the head of a powerful British crime syndicate called 'The Capital.' But the game finally catches up to him. According to the synopsis: ' The Wanted Man follows the rise and fall of Felix Carmichael (Laurie), the elusive and powerful head of notorious British crime syndicate 'The Capital.' Untouchable for 20 years, Carmichael is finally apprehended, but while he's held in the infamous Staplehurst prison, it becomes clear that he's been betrayed by one of his own. 'As the traitor moves to dismantle the empire he has built, Carmichael must risk everything in a daring escape. Willing to stop at nothing to take his revenge, if he succeeds, he'll be a wanted man once more.' Joining Laurie is Thandiwe Newton ( Westworld, Crash ), Fionn Whitehead ( Dunkirk, Emily ), Gina McKee ( My Policeman ), Hazel Doupe ( Say Nothing ), Elliott Heffernan ( Blitz ), and Stephen Dillane ( Game of Thrones ). Kay is not only the creator but also writes and executive produces the series, teaming up with executive producers Willow Grylls and Matt Sandford . Jakob Verbruggen ( The Fall, London Spy ) is directing. This marks yet another ambitious move by Apple TV+, which continues to double down on smart, character-driven thrillers with cinematic flair. ‘Dig' Comedy From Amy Poehler & Mike Schur Picked Up To Series By Peacock
Peacock has given a series pickup to Dig, a new comedy that will reunite Amy Poehler with her Parks and Recreation pal Mike Schur. Schur and Poehler will co-write the pilot episode and executive produce the series, with Poehler set to star. The series marks the first collaboration between the pair since Parks and Rec, which aired its series finale in 2015. Hugh Laurie to star in Apple TV+ thriller 'The Wanted Man'
May 7 (UPI) -- House actor Hugh Laurie will star in the upcoming drama series The Wanted Man. Apple TV+ announced the casting in a press release Wednesday. The Wanted Man is an eight-episode thriller from Lupin co-creator George Kay. The show "charts the rise and fall of Felix Carmichael (Laurie), the elusive and powerful head of notorious British Crime syndicate 'The Capital,'" an official synopsis reads. Carmichael is jailed after two decades on the run when he is "betrayed by one of his own." Wes Davis Hugh Laurie will do crime in a new Apple TV Plus show. The Wanted Man will see Laurie play Felix Carmichael, the 'elusive and powerful head of notorious British crime syndicate 'The Capital,' according to Apple's press release. After going to prison, Carmichael learns he's been betrayed, and so decides to try to escape to exact revenge. The show comes from George Kay, who also created the Idris Elba-starring Hijack.
