Oregon legend Sabrina Ionescu gets the Jeopardy! treatment
When you're the answer of a clue on Jeopardy!, then you know you're big time.
In the June 5 episode of the famous quiz show, every Oregon Ducks basketball fan jumped up off their seat of choice and yelled out the correct answer to the $1,000 clue in the category, The Winning Shot.
This star of Romanian heritage hit from near the center court logo to put the New York Liberty up a game in the 2024 WNBA Finals.
Of course, the answer is Sabrina Ionescu.
As host Ken Jennings read off the clue, a couple of pictures of Ionescu were shown. Fortunately, someone got the answer correct to avoid a ban of the game show in the state of Oregon.
Ionescu led the Liberty to their first-ever WNBA championship a year ago as they defeated the Minnesota Lynx 3-2 in the Best-of-5 series. They were looking for a repeat here in 2025 as New York is undefeated at 8-0, but it's still early in the season.
Ionescu is averaging 17.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and five assists per game this season.
