Robert Eggers Eyeing Reunion with Aaron-Taylor Johnson and Lily Rose-Depp on "Werwulf"
Yara Sameh Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who starred in director Robert Eggers' stylish vampire hit 'Nosferatu," is set to re-team with the filmmaker for his next film, 'Werwulf.' Moreover, Lily-Rose Depp, who led the 2024 gothic horror film, is also in talks to join the project. Eggers will direct the werewolf horror feature from a script he co-wrote with Sjón (the duo previously collaborated on 2022's 'The Northman' script). "Werwulf" is slated for a Christmas Day 2026 release in North America. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title are producing alongside Eggers and Sjón, while Maiden Voyage's Chris and Eleanor Columbus are serving as executive producers. Focus Features most recently financed and released Eggers' critically acclaimed gothic horror film 'Nosferatu.' Eggers and Focus have partnered on all his films to date, also including 'The Northman,' 'The Witch' and 'The Lighthouse, for which Focus handled international distribution through Universal International. A reimagining of F. W. Murnau's 1922 silent German Expressionist film, 'Nosferatu' stars Depp as a young woman who becomes the object of desire for the terrifying vampire Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård). Taylor-Johnson appears as Friedrich Harding, a vampire skeptic. Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe also star. The film was a success at the box office, sucking up a huge $40 million Christmas debut, nearly double its pre-release expectations. It ultimately grossed over $181 million worldwide. Taylor-Johnson most recently appeared in '28 Years Later.' Previous credits include 'Kraven the Hunter,' 'The Fall Guy,' 'Bullet Train,' 'Tenet,' 'Nocturnal Animals' and 'Godzilla.' Depp's additional credits include 'Wolf,' 'Silent Night,' 'Voyagers,' 'The Dancer,' 'The King,' and HBO's 'The Idol.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

‘Black Swan' Dances Back Into Theaters for IMAX Anniversary Screenings
Darren Aronofsky summer is upon us, as his ninth feature 'Caught Stealing' hits theaters August 29. But the week before, his iconic 2010 ballerina-on-the-brink thriller 'Black Swan' will return for a special IMAX 15th anniversary engagement on August 21 and 24. Searchlight Pictures will take the Best Picture nominee — and Best Actress winner for Natalie Portman — to more than 200 IMAX screens on August 21 and 24. Directed by Aronofsky and shot by Matthew Libatique, 'Black Swan' has been specially remastered for the IMAX format, joining recent premium retro screenings like the upcoming golden anniversary of Steven Spielberg's 'Jaws' and the 10th anniversary of Robert Eggers' 'The Witch.' More from IndieWire 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Review: Fisherman Slasher Hooks a Salty and Satisfying Legacy Sequel 'Smurfs' Review: The Once-Iconic Blue Menaces Are Trapped in Charmless, Generic Animated Feature According to Searchlight, more plans to celebrate 'Black Swan's' 15th birthday will be announced throughout the year, and the company has released a brand new trailer (below) to get things started. Portman swept the movie awards season that year for her physically and mentally grueling portrayal of sexually repressed New York City ballerina Nina Sayers, who spirals into madness and delusion when she takes on the dual role of the Swan Queen for a new interpretation of Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake.' Sending her world further into a tailspin are her helicopter mom (a wonderfully creepy Barbara Hershey), lascivious artistic director (Vincent Cassel), and confidante-turned-company-nemesis Lily (Mila Kunis). 'Black Swan' grossed more than $329 million at the global box office off a budget in the low eight figures, with nominations for Picture, Director, Cinematography, and Editing along with Portman's Best Actress win. After opening the Venice Film Festival and premiering in theaters later in the fall, 'Black Swan' was subject to at least two controversies that ultimately had little impact on its legacy: First, that the film was an uncited reinterpretation of Satoshi Kon's 1997 anime film 'Perfect Blue,' about a former Japanese pop star driven to madness by an obsessive fan. Another came from American Ballet Theatre dancer Sarah Lane, who served as Portman's dance double on the film and who allegedly did most of the onscreen dancing attributed to Portman, the actress' face digitally superimposed on Lane's body during the most challenging pointe work. Through numerous statements and interviews, the filmmakers resolved the issue, with the technical demands of Portman's performance ultimately undisputed despite Lane arguably not receiving the credit she felt was due. (Portman had studied ballerina as a child and then spent another year training for the 'Black Swan' production.) Either way, 'Black Swan' is still remembered as a delirious mash-up of high art and sleaze, of 'The Red Shoes,' 'Carrie,' 'Showgirls,' and 'All About Eve,' a backstage melodrama now understood as one of the best films of the 21st century so far. IMAX screenings of 'Black Swan' will take place in major cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, with tickets for select showings already available. Aaron Taylor-Johnson leads Robert Eggers' 'Werwulf' as Lily-Rose Depp eyes possible reunion in cast
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to star in Werwulf, the upcoming werewolf horror film from director Robert Eggers. The project marks a reunion for the actor and director following their collaboration on the gothic vampire feature Nosferatu. Lily-Rose Depp, who also starred in Nosferatu, is currently in discussions to join the cast of Werwulf. The film is scheduled for a Christmas Day 2026 release in North America. Eggers co-wrote the script with longtime collaborator Sjón, following their previous work on The Northman. Werwulf will continue Eggers' exploration of folklore and myth through a stylised horror lens. The project is being produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title, alongside Eggers and Sjón. Chris and Eleanor Columbus of Maiden Voyage are on board as executive producers. Eggers has built a consistent partnership with Focus Features, which backed his earlier titles including The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu. The latter, a reimagining of the 1922 silent film, featured Depp as a young woman pursued by vampire Count Orlok, portrayed by Bill Skarsgård. Taylor-Johnson played Friedrich Harding, a sceptic of the vampire myth. The film earned $40 million in its opening weekend and grossed over $181 million worldwide. Taylor-Johnson recently appeared in 28 Years Later, with prior roles in Kraven the Hunter, Bullet Train, Tenet, and Godzilla. Depp's previous credits include The Idol, Wolf, Silent Night, and Voyagers.

‘Even after all these years': Siobhan Marshall on forever being called Pascalle West
As we wrap up Outrageous Week, actor Siobhan Marshall takes us through her life in television. It's been 20 years since Outrageous Fortune first stormed onto New Zealand television screens, but Siobhan Marshall still meets a 'terrifying' number of people who think she's Pascalle West. Whether they're from overseas viewers who have only recently discovered the iconic New Zealand series, or locals who have loved it for decades, Marshall still gets messages about Pascalle almost every day. 'It's such a funny one, because it just hasn't gone anywhere after all these years,' she says. 'It's so nice to see.' The role of Pascalle, the wide-eyed amateur model hellbent on being the next Rachel Hunter, was only Marshall's third acting role since drama school, having previously played Chris Warner's nanny in a brief stint on Shortland Street, and a centaur on the The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The 21-year-old got a lucky spray tan ahead of her audition, and remembers another auspicious sign that the role was hers. 'When I walked out of the audition, this girl walked in wearing a jacket with 'Siobhan' written in diamantes on the back',' she says. 'I got in my friend's car and said, 'I got that'.' Marshall had nerves about working alongside experienced actors like Robyn Malcolm and Grant Bowler, but she was fully committed to the role of the West's eldest daughter. Her boyfriend at the time was from West Auckland, and she remembers his advice on how to swear like a Westie ('just let it out: fuck!'). Swears aside, Pascalle was always a joy to play. 'She was the comic relief for ages, but then she got into some more gritty stuff,' she says. 'Seeing what she got up to was always fun. It was like, 'what's in the next script? What happens in this one?'' While Pascalle's legacy remains, Marshall does have one regret: 'I would have loved to have kept the Pascalle necklace, but I didn't.' And as for where she thinks the character would have ended up? 'I reckon she's probably still with Judd somewhere, and she's probably got some kids.' Since Outrageous, Marshall has starred in everything from The Blue Rose to Find Me a Māori Bride, and dipped her toes into reality series Celebrity Treasure Island. As we continue to celebrate all things Outrageous Week, we asked her to take us through her life in television. My earliest TV memory is… My sister and I watched a lot of TV growing up. A lot of Play School, and all sorts of cartoons, I loved Friends and Fresh Prince of Bel Air, too. All the greats. My earliest TV crush was… Martin Henderson from Shortland Street. I auditioned for Shortland Street when I was about 11, and I went out to do the audition and saw him in the flesh. It was very exciting. It was a real moment for me. I didn't get cast, but it was my first audition ever. I don't even know how I got that audition – I didn't have an agent. The TV ad I can't stop thinking about is… That Cadbury ad with the gorilla. That's still one of the best ones. So good, so simple, and it's chocolate. My first time on screen was… Shortland Street, straight after drama school. I played Chris Warner's child's nanny turned love interest. The role was a bit racy for Shortland Street and there were bed scenes with Chris Warner. I remember people were like 'oh, you played that slut on Shorty Street'. That's how it started, and then it continued [on Outrageous]. My TV guilty pleasure is… My current obsession is Peaky Blinders, and before that I rewatched Taboo with Tom Hardy. I also just finished Weak Hero on Netflix, which is a Korean series. It's about a bunch of teenage boys who basically fight all the time. It doesn't sound good, but you can't stop watching it. Even though it's a bit silly, I like it. The on-screen moment that haunts me to this day is… The Blair Witch Project. I watched it at the movies with my friend, and she was sitting on my right side. Something happened on screen and I got scared. I went to hug her, but I went the wrong way, and I hugged this random guy. My favourite TV character of all time is… Can't go past Chandler Bing and all the Friends characters. My favourite TV project is… Outrageous Fortune. I got to do so many different things, and work with such great actors. I didn't know at the time, because I was so fresh, but they really just let us go as actors. You just made up whatever you wanted to do and they filmed it, whereas normally, it's very 'stand here, do this, stand there'. Quite often you'd do the scene and then you'd just keep going until they called cut. The TV show I wish I was involved with is… It changes depending on what I'm watching, but I'd love to go way back in time in some sort of period piece. Watching shows set in the 1800s and 1900s and seeing how they lived just fascinates me. My controversial TV opinion is… I didn't get through Adolescence. It was great, I enjoyed it, and then I just didn't want to watch anymore. I also didn't like Breaking Bad. I had to watch it because I was doing this course in New York, and part of it was I had to watch Breaking Bad. I don't know if I watched the last season, because I think I had enough. The last thing I watched on television was… After the Party. I feel so bad that it's taken me this long. I've been meaning to watch it. I wanted to see Robbie [Marshall's Outrageous co-star Robyn Malcolm], and it's amazing. They did such a good job.
