Precious memories of the late Tommie Gorman shared at special Sligo event

Cathaoirleach Bree welcomed all attendees, with a special acknowledgment to Ceara Roche, wife of Tommie Gorman, along with extended family and friends, and those watching the live stream. Speaking at the event, Councillor Bree said: 'Tommie Gorman was many things: reporter, correspondent, interviewer, sportsman, mentor, friend, husband, father. But above all, he was a man of principle — rooted deeply in the place he called home, devoted to its people, and tireless in his efforts to shine a light on the stories that matter. 'His legacy will undoubtedly live on, not just in the archives of RTÉ, but in the heart of our county, in the stands of the Showgrounds, and in the countless lives he touched through his work and his unwavering commitment to others.' Leo Gray, retired sports editor of The Sligo Champion, and Niall Delaney of Ocean FM, joined moderator Adrian Eames, RTÉ sports commentator and producer, for a panel discussion covering Tommie Gorman's successful career as a journalist and correspondent, his lifelong love of Sligo, Sligo Rovers FC, and his unwavering commitment to helping others throughout his life. The stories, memories, and music shared throughout the evening formed a fitting tribute to this remarkable Sligo man. Contributions from the audience highlighting the support Tommie Gorman gave to numerous projects came from Kevin Colreavy, Sligo Rovers Heritage Committee; Simone Hickey, Lest Sligo Forgets; Colm McIntyre, Principal, Ursuline College Sligo; and Maura Gilligan, artist and writer. Seamie and Stephen O'Dowd provided a moving musical accompaniment, bringing the evening to a close with a poignant rendition of Thom Moore's beautiful song, 'Believe Me, Sligo.' The special edition of The Word was supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media through the Creative Ireland Programme, and can be viewed on the Sligo Libraries YouTube channel.

The 34-year-old mum-of-two flashed a smile as she cradled her stomach in a selection of photos which she uploaded to Instagram. 4 Kelsey Parker already shares two children with husband Tom Credit: Instagram 4 Kelsey was showing off just how much her baby bump has grown Credit: Instagram 4 Kelsey said she and boyfriend Will Lindsay weren't really trying for a baby Credit: Instagram Kelsey, is the widow of The Wanted star Tom Palmer, who tragically died from brain cancer in 2022, at the age of just 33. The Sun revealed last year that Kelsey had found love with tree surgeon Will Lindsay, two years after Tom's death. And speaking on her Mum's The Word podcast in February this year, the star announced the happy news that she is expecting her third child with her new partner. She already shares Aurelia, five, and Bodhi, three with Tom. On the podcast she said of her baby news: 'I'm so happy, we're over the moon. 'We weren't really trying. I just think, what's meant to be is meant to be. 'It happened and we're really happy.' Kelsey then explained that she discovered she was pregnant after missing a period, the morning of the Pride of Britain awards. She added: 'I lost my head that day. Will cried, he was so happy.' During a recent appearance on Loose Women, Kelsey said that Tom's family "couldn't be happier" for her, when fshe first told them about Will. Kelsey Parker reveals why she's taken her wedding ring off two years after husband Tom's death When asked how Tom's mum Noreen reacted to her new relationship Kelsey said she had "given her blessing". During her appearance on the ITV show, Kelsey also explained that Will and her kids often go on trips with her mother-in-law. And just last month, in a more recent episode of her podcast, Kelsey said Will had started to step up in a big way, when it comes to bringing up Aurelia and Bodhi. Kelsey told listeners: "Tom died when he [Bhodi] was 18 months, I gave him everything. I have ever given, Bridget Jones talks about it, when it's just you, I was mum and dad. "I've given so much of me, now they just expect 'me, me, me at 3 o'clock in the morning. "I'm so happy that Will is there and Will has taken, I don't want to say the role of dad … role model. "So he now backs me, I've never had that because Tom was too ill, he couldn't really pick Bodhi up, so now I've go Will who backs me... Bodhi is like, 'hang on a second'. "He absolutely adores Will and he listens to him, he needed the male role model."
