The Chase star Jenny Ryan lands new job away from show and will 'thrive' in role
The Chase star Jenny Ryan, who is best known as The Vixen, has announced that she will be taking on a new role away from the hit ITV gameshow in a family pantomime. The Chase star Jenny Ryan has bagged herself a glittering new gig away from the game show's set. Having been part of the ITV quiz favourite, where she's known as The Vixen since 2015, after a recommendation from Anne Hegerty. But she's soon to tread the boards in an exciting panto role. Taking on the mantle of the nefarious Wicked Fairy Carabosse at The Wyvern Theatre, in Swindon, she'll feature in Sleeping Beauty, joining forces with David Ashley and Ben Goffe, fresh from his Best Comic nomination at the UK Pantomime Association Awards, reports Edinburgh Live. The official synopsis for the production, explains: "When the Wicked Fairy Carabosse's evil curse causes the Princess to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into an enchanted sleep, can anyone rescue her from the magical slumber before it is too late?" The festive fun kicks off December 6, 2025, and runs through to January 4, 2026, with tickets already up for grabs. On Wednesday (May 14), The Wyvern Theatre took to Instagram to share the news, featuring a poster decked out with the star-studded cast and teasing fans, saying: "We're thrilled to announce that The Chase's @jenny_from_the_quiz will star as the wicked fairy Carabosse in our spellbinding family pantomime, Sleeping Beauty alongside Swindon panto royalty David Ashley and comedy actor @bengoffe, back by popular demand! Bring on the fun and laughter! !". Following the reveal, Jenny couldn't contain her delight, releasing a statement saying: "I'm thrilled to be coming to Swindon this Christmas to appear in Sleeping Beauty. I have heard how wonderful Wyvern Theatre audiences are so I can't wait to get started. "I know that we are going to have a lot of panto fun and I look forward to hearing everyone booing loudly!" Her role in Sleeping Beauty is not Jenny's first foray into pantomime – she's graced the stage before in previous productions such as Beauty and the Beast, in Crewe, plus turns in Snow White and The Wizard of Oz. In addition to her spot on The Chase, Jenny has made her voice heard on BBC Radio 5 Live's Fighting Talk and has been featured across various beloved reality shows like Celebrity MasterChef, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Blankety Blank, Celebrity Catchphrase, and Beat the Chasers. She also had her own show at the Edinburgh Fringe last year. While speaking to GMB's Ed Balls, Ranvir Singh, and entertainment reporter Scarlette Douglas last year, Jenny shared: "We took the show to Edinburgh Fringe last year really on sort of a whim. It's a big risk to take something like this, as presenters know, after a stern role and you try something new. "It's a bit of a challenge for people to change their expectations and perceptions of you." Ed chimed in to quip: "Tell me about it!" after going from an MP to a daytime show host, as Jenny continued: "Putting myself out there to show a softer side of me putting everything out there, my background, everything... was a bit of a risk. We sold out [at the Fringe] and we got such excellent feedback."
