July will be an exciting month for anime lovers on Netflix as the new series The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity is set to premiere on July 6. The show is based on a popular manga by Saka Mikami. Directed by Miyuki Kuroki, the show follows Rintaro Tsumugi and Kaoruko Waguri from rival schools who unexpectedly grow close to each other. The simple romance soon gives way to secrets, tricks and challenges that make the story more thrilling. Other students from both schools try to come between the couple, adding some tension and drama.
The trailer begins with Rintaro meeting Kaoruko at his family's patisserie. He quickly develops feelings for her, but soon learns she is a student at Kikyo Girls' High, a school for rich families. Despite the difference in their backgrounds, Kaoruko treats him kindly and doesn't care about where he studies or how he looks. As the trailer continues, it also gives a glimpse of the struggles they will face because of their growing bond.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity trailer also includes some soothing music. The opening theme is titled Manazashi wa Hikari (The gaze is light), sung by Tatsuya Kitani. Hare no Hini (On a sunny day), the ending theme, features vocals by Reira Ushio.
Speaking with Crunchy Roll about their tracks, Tatsuya said, 'They seem to be as warm existence to each other as sunlight coming through thick clouds. Rintaro and Kaoruko seem to have such a relationship. The gaze that innocently leaps over the walls they have erected against the outside world, like a child. I tried to put into words as straightforwardly as possible that that is what makes me so happy and so dear to me."
Reira Ushio added, 'It was my first experience writing a song after reading the original story and I felt many different emotions. This story smelled like a small, pure white love. I was happy that I was able to choose the words and the melody that I imagined and I was also happy when they were adopted. The characters of this anime live in my song and I am looking forward to seeing how they will live in the future when I sing it."
The main voice cast members include Yoshinori Nakayama, Honoka Inoue, Kikunosuke Toya, Koki Uchiyama, Hiiro Ishibashi and Aya Yamane.
