New England Patriots legend James White teased that rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson is studying some of his old game footage in preparation for the 2025 season.
Henderson, a second-round draft pick, is expected to have a significant role in the offensive game plans for the team. Like White, he's a triple-threat option out of the offensive backfield with the ability to run, receive and pass protect. He recorded 3,761 rushing yards and 853 receiving yards over a four-year career at Ohio State.
He's the next generation of running backs for the Patriots who could learn a thing or two from an All-Dynasty player and three-time Super Bowl champion in White.
"I got word from a little birdie that they tapped into that [film] right now," White responded on The Money Down Podcast, when it was suggested that Henderson watched some of his old game footage. "They tapped into some of that tape right now. ...They gon' get right man."
The Patriots had hopes that Antonio Gibson could help fill the role that White had with the Patriots for eight years. Perhaps that'll still be the case with Gibson returning for a second season. The team also added undrafted rookie Lan Larison to the mix of a unit spearheaded by Rhamondre Stevenson.
Henderson is a home run option with the ball in his hands, but he is also capable of filling the third-down role left by White. He's a rare and versatile talent who should hit the ground running in his first season.
