VILLUPURAM: A 35-year-old man passed away ten days after testing positive for COVID-19 at the Villupuram government medical college hospital on June 6. The deceased, identified as Thiagarajan, a native of Perapperi village near Tindivanam, had been working as a construction contractor in Hyderabad. He allegedly contracted the virus while at work in Hyderabad ten days ago. Following the onset of fever and other COVID-related symptoms, he returned to his native village in Tindivanam, a week ago. Initially admitted to the Tindivanam government hospital, Thiagarajan was later referred to the Villupuram government medical college hospital for advanced treatment after his condition worsened early on June 6. Despite intensive medical efforts, he passed away due to cardiac failure, medical sources said. The deceased was diabetic, suffered from hypertension, cardiac issues and was under medication for Tuberculosis. Further, sources stated that his health deteriorated rapidly after his return from Hyderabad, leading to his eventual demise. Speaking to TNIE, Villupuram Deputy Director Health Services Dr Senthil Kumar said, "The patient tested positive for COVID in Hyderabad. However, he tested negative on Friday morning, but he died due to comorbidities. Six members who were in contact with him were isolated. People in the village have been asked to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines."

A road accident in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh claimed two lives on Friday, while four others sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred when a family was travelling from Karnataka's Bengaluru to Tirupati for darshan at to initial reports, the vehicle carrying the family met with the accident near Kashipentla Heritage under circumstances yet to be fully ascertained. Emergency services rushed to the spot shortly after the crash, and the injured were immediately shifted to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati for police arrived at the scene and have registered a case. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident. In a separate incident on Monday, a road accident in Tirupati district, resulted in the deaths of five people and left two others seriously injured when their car collided with a container truck. The victims, who hailed from Bengaluru in Karnataka and Hosur in Tamil Nadu, were travelling in a Maruti Ertiga along a national highway when the crash to Chandragiri Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prasad, the Ertiga was trailing a container truck when it suddenly rammed into the rear of the larger vehicle. The impact was so severe that the car became lodged beneath the truck, which continued moving briefly before the driver realised what had happened and came to a deceased were identified as Vijayalakshmi (50), Sahana B S (34), Rajani S R (27), and R Lekhan Gowda (11), all residents of Bengaluru, and Thiagarajan (48), the driver from Hosur. Two other passengers, Geethamma (51) from Hassan, Karnataka, and Krisvin (15), son of Thiagarajan, were seriously injured and rushed to SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati for treatment. TIRUPATI: A horrific road accident on Monday afternoon in Thotapalli village, Pakala Mandal, Tirupati district, claimed the lives of five individuals and left two others injured when their car crashed into a container truck. The victims, residents of Bengaluru in Karnataka and Hosur, Tamil Nadu, were travelling in a Maruti Ertiga (TN 70 AH 2745) when the accident occurred on a national highway. According to Chandragiri DSP Prasad, the car was following a container truck (KA 51 AK 6158) when it veered underneath the larger vehicle, resulting in a catastrophic impact. The car was crushed beneath the lorry, and the lorry driver, unaware of the collision, continued driving briefly before stopping. The deceased were identified as Vijayalakshmi (50), Sahana BS (34), Rajani SR (27), R Lekhan Gowda (11), all from Bengaluru, and Thiagarajan (48), the driver from Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The injured, Geethamma (51) from Hasan, Karnataka, and Krisvin (15), son of Thiagarajan, from Hosur, were rushed to the SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati for treatment. Tirupati SP V Harshavardhana Raju, who oversaw rescue operations at the site, attributed the accident to the car driver's negligence and rash driving.
