West Virginia Wesleyan's Space Club to launch probe into space
BUCKHANNON, W. Va. (WBOY) — Students at West Virginia Wesleyan will soon get to see their work fly among the stars as part of NASA's GHOST (Grand CHallenge MesOsphere Student RockeT) rocket launch in Andoya, Norway this November. West Virginia Wesleyan College's Space Club is helping build a probe that will be sent into space during the launch. Colleges throughout West Virginia are contributing to the rocket's payload with Wesleyan's contribution being a Spectrometer and Langmuir Probe that they will use to measure the region's aurora borealis. Big Timber releasing limited time 'Thic Mint' beer Wesleyan has participated with other West Virginia schools in similar projects in the past, but this is the first time the launch will be in Norway. 'As you know, not just the President of Space Club, but someone who just loves learning about space and understanding it, I think that this project is huge, especially considering Wesleyan is such a small school,' Wesleyan Space Club President Jacob Dawson said. When Space Club isn't doing engineering and research, they also enjoy encouraging interest in science in the community. Big Timber releasing limited time ‘Thic Mint' beer
ELKINS, (WBOY) — 'Thic Mint,' a new beer from Big Timber Brewing inspired by the Girl Scout's Thin Mint cookie, is expected to appear on store shelves soon, according to a brewery spokesperson. This 11.2% ABV pastry stout was announced on the brewery's Facebook page last week and is aged with cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and coffee with added natural mint according to the post. Big Timber Sales Manager Jared Wray said this 'very very limited' release is already available at the Big Timber taproom in Elkins, and will begin appearing in local stores and other specialty beverage shops over the coming days. Unlike most other Big Timber beers, Thic Mint will be available in single cans instead of the usual four-pack customers are used to. Big Timber Brewing expanding with new location in Tucker County The beer will not be distributed to big retailers like Kroger and Walmart and can instead be found in local liquor stores like Everyday's A Party in Morgantown.
