On May 26 Jay Shetty visited Princeton University and delivered a passionate speech encouraging students to find their purpose in life Shetty was also granted an honorary class membership alongside four Princeton staff members "Live a life that would make your younger self proud and your older self grateful," he said onstageJay Shetty is passing on words of wisdom to the Class of 2025. One day before Princeton University held its 278th commencement ceremony, the podcaster and author visited the Ivy League to deliver a speech at the college's annual Class Day ceremony. Following an awards presentation honoring student achievements and leadership, class officers granted honorary class memberships to Shetty and four Princeton staff members, according to a press release. The Think Like a Monk author closed out the event by encouraging his audience to harness their passions and focus on the work. "Because the world rewards what's impressive, you'll feel pressured to prove you're doing well before you've even figured out what that means for you," said Shetty onstage. "The world will push you to perform success. But if there's one message I want you to walk away with today, it's this: You have to disappear." The former monk also gave specific advice on how to hone in on what's important in life. "Focus on what it gives you: stability for the people you love, structure while you build something else, a chance to bring you into the role," he said. While underscoring that "people will misunderstand you no matter what you do," Shetty urged the students to tune out the noise. "You might as well do something you love. Live a life that would make your younger self proud and your older self grateful," he said. "Even if it confuses everyone in between." Shetty is currently on the road for his 15-city On Purpose Live Tour, during which he interviews surprise celebrity guests in front of a live audience. "I'm so grateful that people listen every week. I'm so thankful that people are so connected to the message and the fact that we get to share that energy in person," he previously told PEOPLE. "The fact that people are feeling so moved listening in their headphones... the energy in the room is going to be incredible." Read the original article on People

'It's been amazing just watching him navigate what it means to be that successful that young, and that talented that young,' Shetty says. 'He's definitely a wise, old soul.' As for balancing their friendship and busy schedules, Shetty says he tries to check in once a week. If they're not in the same place, they'll hop on a Zoom call once a month.
