Two Asians jailed for sharing indecent video on social media
Two Asian men have been sentenced to six months in prison and will be deported from Bahrain after sharing a video on social media which prosecutors said offended public decency. The Third Minor Criminal Court delivered its ruling in a single hearing. The pair were also stripped of their mobile phones, and the court ordered that they be deported once their sentences have been served. Alert The matter moved quickly. Days before the hearing, the Cybercrime Directorate at the General Directorate for Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security alerted the Public Prosecution to a video circulating online. It showed the two men carrying out indecent acts in public. Prosecutors said the footage clashed with Bahraini customs and encouraged immoral conduct. The prosecution ordered their arrest immediately. During questioning, both confessed. They were held for seven days while the case was sent to court. Prosecutors requested the toughest sentence available along with a permanent ban on their return. The court gave its ruling in a single session. The men will be removed from the country once they have served their time in prison.

The Chief of the Cybercrime Prosecution announced that the Third Minor Criminal Court has swiftly issued a verdict sentencing two Asian nationals to six months in prison, with immediate enforcement, confiscation of their mobile phones, and permanent deportation from the Kingdom of Bahrain following the completion of their sentence. The case emerged after the Public Prosecution received a report from the Cybercrime Directorate under the General Directorate for Combating Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security. The report indicated that a video clip had been circulating on social media platforms showing the two individuals engaging in acts deemed indecent and offensive to public morals and contrary to Bahraini social values and traditions. The content was also seen as inciting public immorality. Following the report, the Public Prosecution promptly ordered the arrest of the suspects. During interrogation, both individuals confessed to the charges against them. They were placed in provisional detention for seven days, after which the prosecution referred them to the criminal court on an urgent basis, demanding the maximum penalty and their permanent removal from the country.
