Canucks Predicted to Sign 2-Time All-Star to Bolster Roster
Canucks Predicted to Sign 2-Time All-Star to Bolster Roster originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Vancouver Canucks just barely missed the postseason this year, finishing the 2024-25 season in extreme disapointment. Vancouver entered the year with high expectations, but inconsistent play doomed them from the start. Advertisement As the team gets ready for the offseason, the front office will need to make some changes to the roster. This could be bringing in more talent, but addressing the offense has to be a priority if Vanvouncer wants to be more competitive. The Canucks may look at the free agent market, and there should be a few quality players for the team to consider. NHL insider Thomas Drance of The Athletic mentioned Duchene as a target of the Canucks, linking the two sides. "The Canucks can't let perfect become the enemy of good this offseason. Though he's 34 and struggled in the Western Conference final at five-on-five, Duchene remains a versatile, productive top-of-the-lineup player with speed to burn and the ability to contribute at center or on the wing. If he's willing to come north of the 49th parallel, it's hard to come up with a better, realistic fit," Drance wrote. Dallas Stars center Matt Duchene (95) moves the puck against Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (8) durng the first period at Arena. Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Duchene could provide a nice spark to the Canucks, especially after they just barely missed the postseason this season. The veteran was great for the Stars this year and helped them dominate during the year. If he could replicate this production with Vancouver, the Canucks could instantly become Stanley Cup contenders.
