Azam: Missing Pamela Ling not a suspect in MACC money-laundering probe
KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) clarified today that Pamela Ling, who was reported missing last month, was not a suspect in its money laundering investigation. Speaking at a press conference at MACC headquarters, Free Malaysia Today reported that chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said Ling had cooperated with the agency and was only involved in the investigation as a witness. 'She was not our suspect. She is a witness. We never called her with the intent to arrest her,' Azam was quoted as saying. Ling, 42, was reported missing on April 9 while she was on her way to the MACC headquarters to provide a statement. A missing person's report was lodged at 3.02pm that day. Azam also revealed that the investigation is now in the hands of the police. 'This case, I maintain, is outside of MACC's scope. We leave it to the police,' he reportedly said, adding that MACC had extended full cooperation to the police in the matter. 'We have given good cooperation and provided whatever information needed by the police on the missing person,' he added. MACC had launched an investigation into Ling and her husband, Thomas Hah, in May last year over suspected corruption and money laundering activities.

Missing S'wakian Pamela Ling secures leave to challenge MACC arrest warrant
The High Court will hear Pamela Ling's application to quash an arrest warrant issued for her failure to comply with a summons issued by MACC to have her statement recorded. KUALA LUMPUR : The High Court here has allowed missing Sarawakian woman Pamela Ling to challenge a warrant of arrest taken out against her by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), purportedly for the obstruction of justice. The warrant of arrest was issued by a magistrates' court in Johor Bahru on Dec 2 last year, after she allegedly failed to comply with a summons issued by the anti-graft body to have her statement recorded. Today, Justice Amarjeet Singh granted Ling leave to bring judicial review proceedings in a bid to have the arrest warrant quashed. She also wants the court to declare that MACC has no power to require the immigration department to prohibit her from leaving Malaysia. Ling is seeking more than S$20,000 in damages. Case management is fixed on June 3. Ling met MACC at Singapore's Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau last year and had her initial statement recorded. She was then summoned to MACC's office in Johor Bahru to have a further statement taken from her. However, she did not attend as required, saying she feared for her safety and claiming that her estranged husband, Thomas Hah, was using MACC to pressure her. In her application, Ling asked the court to set aside the arrest warrant, claiming it had been wrongly procured by MACC. Ling was represented by lawyers Malik Imtiaz Sarwar and Surendra Ananth while senior federal counsel Faisal Noor appeared for the government. She was reported missing on April 9, while on her way to MACC's headquarters to give a statement related to an ongoing investigation. MACC opened a probe into Ling and Hah in May last year for alleged corruption and money laundering offences.

Husband of missing Malaysian corruption probe witness Pamela Ling arrested
Malaysian police have arrested the husband of Pamela Ling, the woman who was abducted in broad daylight by people in police uniform last month while on her way to give evidence to the country's anti-corruption body. Thomas Hah Tiing Siu, 54, and his wife – both Malaysians – have been under a year-long corruption and money laundering probe by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC). Hah, a prominent Sarawakian businessman, has been involved in a controversial land deal in neighbouring Sabah, according to news reports. Ling disappeared on April 9, while en route to the MACC headquarters, when two men in police vests and a woman in uniform stopped her while she was in a Grab car and forced her into their vehicle. She has not been heard from since despite an appeal by Malaysian authorities to Interpol. Hah was arrested on Thursday morning, according to Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa. He said that the businessman was taken to the Putrajaya court for remand but did not disclose the nature of the arrest.
