New ladder fire truck rolls out for Erie Fire Dept.
A new fire apparatus is now in service and is taking emergency calls for the community.
The new tower two was put in service at 3 p.m. Thursday. It replaces its predecessor which was purchased by the Erie Fire Department in 2003.

A lieutenant with the Erie Fire Department said the force has been training on it practically every day since it was brought in and will continue to do so.
'It's got a 100-foot ladder and I think the biggest thing is that it gets us to places where regular, or a ground ladder can't reach. It allows us to get up high, higher than we'd normally be able to, and put water on fires from above, which sometimes is important,' said Thomas Majczyk, a lieutenant in the Erie Fire Department.

Most engines have a lifecycle of about 10 years, so first responders said it was a much-needed upgrade.
