Meghan Markle's Dad Thomas 'Struggles' Abroad as Daughter Fights Royals and Builds Empire, Know Where He's Staying

Meghan Markle's estranged father, Thomas Markle, is reportedly finding it difficult to adjust to his new life in the Philippines. The retired TV lighting director relocated to Cebu Island earlier this year, moving from his longtime home in Rosarito, Mexico, near the US border. His son, Thomas Markle Jr., also moved with him. The decision to move was part of Thomas Sr.'s effort to begin a new chapter in a more peaceful and affordable environment. He initially stayed at a 3-star hotel before settling into a USD 670-per-month high-rise apartment on the island. But the transition hasn't been easy. A source told The New York Post, 'Thomas and his son took the plunge and moved to Southeast Asia. It's been hard but they have each other.' Locals say the hot and humid climate in Cebu has taken a toll on Thomas Sr.'s health. With summer temperatures ranging from 80 to 100 degrees and humidity reaching 90%, the adjustment has been physically demanding. 'There are only two types of weather in Cebu: hot and humid, and hot and humid and raining,' a source told The Mirror. 'It's brutal even for men half his age, but it's still sad to see him looking as though he's struggling.' The Emmy award-winning lighting director has reportedly been using a cane to walk on Cebu's uneven streets. Why did Thomas Markle move to the Philippines? Before the move, Thomas Markle shared that he wanted to live in a calmer setting. In an interview with the Daily Mail in January, he said he was ready for a change, sharing that he had felt stuck in a rut and wanted to meet new people and experience kindness. He described Southeast Asia as a place full of culture and beauty. He also mentioned that he wasn't running away but was looking for a more positive life. Speaking about his daughter, he said he saw news about Meghan every day but held no ill will toward her. Thomas Markle has not spoken to Meghan Markle since before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Their strained relationship worsened after his stroke in 2022. He has never met his grandchildren, Archie or Lilibet, who turned 4 on June 4.

Meghan Markle ALWAYS rejects her friends when things don't go her way – just like she dumped the Royals, says expert

MEGHAN Markle always rejects her friends when things don't go her way, a royal expert has claimed. In the very same way, Meghan also "dumped" the royal family when things failed to work out for her in Britain, the expert added. 7 7 7 It comes after reports claimed Meghan dropped her former best pal Edward Enninful after a row over the cover of Vogue. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, and the former magazine editor were once thick as thieves who bonded over mint tea and "philosophising". The ex- Suits actress said the duo were "like-minded thinkers" after she helped edit an edition in 2019. But insiders told the Mail on Sunday that the pair cut contact over Enninful's plans to cover Meghan and Harry's charity work in a feature. Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun: "None of this surprises me at all, because we see it the whole time when things don't go her way. She just overreacts. "Clearly in this case with Edward Enninful, she has made something of an enemy, because he then dropped her from something she would have liked to be a part of, and it seems to happen the whole time. "She's very demanding. She's difficult to work with. She has her ideas of what she wants to do, and she doesn't seem to want to listen to anybody else, and that's when you get into a trouble." Mr Vickers also highlighted how many people are now removed from Meghan's life, from ex-husbands to close pals. She is estranged from her father Thomas Markle over drama surrounding her wedding with Prince Harry in 2018. Her shocking claims surrounding the Royal Family since quitting the UK in 2020, from her Oprah interview to Netflix documentary, have also seen her alienated from her in-laws. And countless staff members have joined a long list of people who no longer wish to associate with the mum-of-two. "There is a theme which runs through all this is that she's always rejecting people, or indeed, falls out with," said Mr Vickers. "Her father for one, who was very good to her when she was growing up, her first husband just gets dumped, her Canadian chef lover in Canada, dumped as well. "Jessica Mulroney, her great friend in Canada, dumped, the entire British Royal family, and apart from her mother, all her own family." He dubbed the reported fall out with Enninful a "normal theme" and added "everything she does seems to go wrong". Mr Vickers continued: "She should listen to somebody like Edward Enninful, he's a very highly qualified editor, and he knows what he's doing, running a very important magazine. 7 7 "I would have thought it would have been well in her interest to keep in with him, instead of upsetting him. "She doesn't know better. Unfortunately, as has been proved time and time again." He added: "She is just so incredibly difficult, and that is the theme, and that is the narrative now, and I suspect that that will go on and probably get worse." Mr Vickers suggested part of the trouble stems from the fact everything "is always focused on her". He spotlighted the Duchess' Mother's Day post in which she praised herself and failed to mention her own mum. "I really feel sorry for those children, and I wonder what sort of what they're going to think when they grow up and realise how they're being used in these things as well," he added. This comes after Meghan reportedly cut her plans to work with Enninful on a feature in 2022. The former editor allegedly wanted to showcase the Duchess' keynote speech at the One Young World Summit in Manchester in 2022. However, he didn't want to give them a front cover. Conde Nast insiders claimed Meghan axed their arrangement. A Conde Nast insider claimed: "The duchess and her team had high expectations and were expecting she might get a print cover or at least a digital cover out of it, but Enninful was not able to meet those expectations. "He already had a magazine cover in the bag for that month." "The whole process became very difficult. Edward could only promise her a big showy feature inside the magazine and online – but she turned it down." After being told they wouldn't make the cover, sources claim Meghan asked to be on the special digital cover which would be available with the print edition. Her request was refused, by Enninful, because he didn't think it would be "appropriate". The Duchess was so offended she walked away from the offer completely, leaving the former editor "furious". It is understood this was his breaking point and their friendship was fractured beyond repair. Insiders also claim it hasn't gone unnoticed in the Sussex household how much more involvement Enninful has with the Royal Family. Enninful is now a trustee for The King's Fund, King Charles 's charity. And, he hosted a glitzy New York event for The King's Trust earlier this month - and Meghan was definitely not on the list sources claim. This comes after fans claimed Meghan was "snubbed by Vogue" after she didn't appear on Enninful's final cover. The Duchess was noticeably absent from the impressive shoot, featuring 40 "of the most booked and blessed women on earth". Meghan's friends including Ophra, Serena Williams, and Jameela Jamil all appeared in the glamorous picture marking the March 2024 edition. Meg became close with Enninful while guest editing the September 2019 issue. She left herself off the cover over fears she'd look 'boastful' and chose to instead focus on 15 women who 'break barriers'. Enninful also previously stood by Harry and Meghan amid their bombshell Oprah interview in 2021. The former Vogue editor was one of 15 Conde Nast employees who watched the sensational conversation air live in the United States via a video link from their homes in the UK. Enniful was in "constant contact" with Meghan using WhatsApp as he watched the duchess's chat with Oprah, the Daily Mail reported. A source close told the paper: "There were around 15 people on the Zoom, all top Conde Nast people. "They felt it was important from an editorial perspective that they got together to watch it." However, royal biographer Tom Bower previously claimed in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War between the Windsors, that Meghan and Enninful feuded during the creation of Vogue's September 2019 issue. Staff were described as being left in "silent exasperation" at Meghan and her demands. It claimed the duchess proposed poor ideas, and accused her of being difficult to approach with opposing suggestions. Bower also wrote that Enninful and Meghan had a difference of opinion on how to market the edition - as the former actress wished to leak snippets online before its release, while the editor thought secrecy was best. Meghan even asked if the magazine could hit the shelves in the US before the UK, according to the book, which ruffled feathers with head of communications, Sara Latham.

EXCLUSIVE The exclusive 30,000-acre Mexican retreat where Archie's sixth birthday picture was taken is owned by British aristocracy with links to Princess Diana

A new photograph of Prince Archie to mark his sixth birthday yesterday was taken at an exclusive resort in Mexico built by a wealthy family with links to Princess Diana. The picture posted by Meghan Markle on Instagram showed her eldest child from behind silhouetted against the sky as he stood watching a magnificent sunset. It was initially thought the photo was taken on the coast of California, given Prince Harry and Meghan live with their family in an £11million mansion in Montecito. But MailOnline can now confirm that the King's grandson was in fact looking out to sea from the spectacular Cuixmala estate in Jalisco, at the Casa La Playa villa. The US State Department has a travel advisory in place to Americans to 'reconsider' travel to Jalisco due to violent crime, gang activity and kidnapping in the state. It is not known when the photo of Archie was taken. Meghan captioned it with: 'Our son. Our sun', adding: 'Happy 6th birthday to Archie! Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He's six! Where did the time go?' The Duchess also thanked friends who celebrated at a recent party, writing: 'And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special' - followed by a red heart emoji. There is no indication the Sussexes were in Mexico to visit Meghan's estranged father Thomas Markle, 80, whose home is around 2,000 miles away in Rosarito. Mr Markle also told the Mail in January that he was leaving Mexico after ten years for a new life abroad in 2025 and had been considering options in South East Asia. The stunning Cuixmala estate was built by French-British billionaire financier and politician Sir James Goldsmith in 1989 as a private retreat for him and his family. After Sir James's death aged 64 in 1997, Alix Marcaccini – his daughter with his second wife Ginette Lery – took on the estate before opening it as a hotel. Cuixmala, which has two private beaches, is set in a nature reserve of more than 30,000 acres where protected wildlife such as zebras to crocodiles roam free. The four-bedroom Casa La Playa villa is located on a private beach, and is spread over 19,913 sq ft. According to the Cuixmala website, it is the largest villa on site and boasts 'exquisite sunset views'. The cost of booking Casa La Playa - which is serviced by a cook, butler and two housekeepers - is only available on request, although it is understood that prices start at $7,000 (£5,000) per night. Some of its biggest selling points include an oceanside swimming pool with a dining palapa, living and dining rooms with panoramic views, and a master bedroom with spectacular ocean views from its wraparound windows. Previous guests at Cuixmala, whose architect was the Frenchman Robert Couturier, have included model Kate Moss and politicians Ronald Reagan and Henry Kissinger. One of Sir James's children is financier Ben Goldsmith who hit the headlines this week for saying after Harry's bombshell BBC interview last Friday: 'Tragic but true – Prince Harry's behaviour is unforgivable.' The reference to forgiveness is thought to be in response to Harry's admission that a reconciliation with his family would be very difficult because of his book Spare and his criticism of them in interviews. Ben, 44, became the first former friend of Harry to condemn him publicly. The Duke admitted in Spare that he had lost friends over his decision to tell all to American chat show host Oprah Winfrey, including the van Cutsem family. 'Several close mates and beloved figures in my life, including one of Hugh and Emilie's sons, Emilie herself, and even Tiggy [Pettifer, his former nanny], had chastised me for Oprah,' he wrote. 'How could you reveal such things? About your family?' However Ben's sister Jemima Goldsmith was a close friend to Harry's mother Princess Diana and visited her twice in Pakistan while she was married to former cricket legend Imran Khan. She agreed to help Netflix with its portrayal of Diana in The Crown before pulling out when she concluded that the story was not being treated as 'respectfully or compassionately' as she had hoped. 'It was really important to me that the final years of my friend's life be portrayed accurately and with compassion, as has not always happened in the past,' she later explained. Archie's birthday celebrations, held thousands of miles away from the rest of the Royal Family, took place after the Duke of Sussex's bombshell interview with the BBC in which he said the King will not speak to him and he does not know how much longer his father has left. Harry, speaking after losing a Court of Appeal challenge over his security, said he 'can't see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point'. Archie has made a number of appearances on Meghan's Instagram feed since the duchess launched her As Ever business. The Duchess, who is careful to hide Archie's face, has shown the youngster baking alongside Princess Lilibet as they made thumbprint cookies for cast and crew when she appeared on the Drew Barrymore Show. He has also been pictured picking roses in the Sussexes' Montecito garden, and walking barefoot hand in hand with Harry while Lili was carried on the duke's shoulders. Archie, the King's grandson, was born on May 6, 2019 at the private Portland Hospital in London. He was named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and only became a prince after the death of his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. He is sixth in line to the throne and moved to the US when he was 10 months old after his parents stepped down as senior working royals for a new life in California.

Meghan Markle's Netflix series slammed by her brother

An eight-part lifestyle show titled With Love, Meghan, fronted by the 43-year-old former actress, was released on Netflix this week. The show has been largely panned by critics - and now Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle, Jr, has stepped forth to take aim at the series - claiming some of the comments by his sibling are untrue. Speaking to TalkTV, the 58-year-old said, "The first five minutes, it was just so bland and generic... It was so, like, blah... Nothing jumped out. It was just Meghan, talking in that bland, generic voice."
