First bird flu case confirmed in Madison County
MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A case of bird flu was confirmed in a backyard poultry flock in Madison County, the county announced on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

The backyard flock housed roughly 15 ducks and geese. The remaining birds in the flock will be euthanized to prevent further spread, the county stated.
Contact with the birds was limited to the owners who will be monitored for symptoms by Madison County Public Health.
There have been no human cases of bird flu identified in New York State.
