CATA to start Cambridge Springs bus area service
Beginning Monday, Crawford Area Transportation Authority (CATA) will have a limited on-demand bus service in Cambridge Springs. CATA GO will provide transportation between Cambridge Springs, Saegertown, Venango and Edinboro from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Monday and Tuesday as well as the second Friday of each month. CATA GO allows riders to schedule real-time pickups at their residence in Cambridge Springs and as well as at designated CATA GO stops in the four boroughs via a smartphone app or by calling CATA. An Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible CATA GO van will arrive within 10 to 15 minutes after a trip is scheduled. Fare for a one-way trip within the Cambridge Springs area is $1.50, while the fare for a one-way trip between Cambridge Springs and Saegertown, Venango or Edinboro is $2. Children under age 6 ride free, as do senior citizens age 65 and older with a PA Senior Transit Card. Designated stops in Saegertown are H&H Market and Saegertown Public Library; in Venango, Karl Gerdon Park and the Venango Borough Building; and in Edinboro, CVS, Lakeside Commons and Walmart. The new CATA GO service from Cambridge Springs also can connect passengers to Meadville. It connects with CATA's Saegertown Lifeline Route at Saegertown Public Library and H&H Market. CATA's Saegertown Lifeline runs five days a week between Saegertown and Meadville. Once in Meadville, a rider is able to access CATA's Meadville fixed route bus system. Cambridge Springs is the second CATA GO on-demand service in Crawford County. 'We have had great success with CATA GO in Titusville since its launch in July 2023 and we think we will have the same success in this new service area,' said Tim Geibel, CATA's executive director.
