Hospice charity's deputy chair takes on Ironman challenge
The deputy chair of a hospice charity is to take on an Ironman challenge to raise funds.
Tim Goodson, from Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, will participate in the Ironman Les Sables D'Olonne-Vendée in France in June 2025.
The endurance race involves a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile cycle and a 26.2-mile marathon run.
Mr Goodson, also the executive officer at Dorset General Practice Alliance, is currently undergoing a 30-week training programme.

He said: "My training is going well; I'm putting in the hours and gradually building up.
"It has long been an ambition of mine to complete a full Ironman, having previously completed a half Ironman in Swansea in 2024.
"It's going to be tough, but I'm up for it."
He added: "We have fully funded everything connected with the event ourselves, so 100 per cent of donations will go to Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
"This is a charity helping people with life-limiting illnesses and their families across east Dorset, Poole, Purbeck, Bournemouth and west Hampshire.
"It's a cause very close to my heart and I'd love as many people as possible to get behind me and support this fantastic charity."
Donations can be made on Mr Goodson's fundraising page.
He is training with his friend Mark Orchard, the chief financial officer at Portsmouth and Isle of Wight Hospitals.
