NHSGGC unveils five-year strategy for nurses and midwives
Last week, the board approved the new 'Leading the Way 2025-2029' strategy for both nurses and midwives.
The strategy aims to ensure that "all individuals, families, and their carers will experience high-quality, compassionate care, through the transformation of our workforce while ensuring that our staff are respected, valued, and nurtured."
The board recognised the contribution of nurses in shaping the future of healthcare on International Nurses Day on May 12, with its new strategy being celebrated at its staff event on May 13 at the City Chambers.
(Image: Supplied) Professor Angela Wallace, director of nursing and midwifery at the NHSGGC, said: "As we move forward, we are excited to be working together with our nurses to implement 'Leading the Way' in our everyday and to witness the positive impact this makes.
"Tomorrow's event at the Glasgow City Chambers will bring our strategic pillars to life including the importance of nurses 'caring for each other', a key theme for International Nurses Day this year.
"We will also hear from guest speaker, Tim Keogh, author of a Kind Life who will share his insights on kindness, wellbeing, and positive leadership.
"Understandably, not all nurses will be in attendance so we will also be recording sessions to share the positive messages and direction of travel with everyone after the event.
"Our nurses make up over 43 per cent of the NHSGGC workforce and the impact that they have on our health service is huge.
"We are incredibly grateful for everything they do, and we encourage them to take today as a moment to reflect on what has been achieved this year, and the exciting times ahead.
"Thank you to all our nurses who dedicate themselves every day to caring for our patients and for their colleagues. We value everything you do."
