'Enemy of the people': Donald Trump lashes out at 'sick media' over reports of lowest 100-day approval rating for president in 80 years

Donald Trump (File photo) US President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack against major media outlets on Monday, denouncing them as 'the enemy of the people' after several polls reported the lowest 100-day presidential approval rating in over 80 years. In a fiery post on his Truth Social platform, Trump slammed news outlets naming a few like- The New York Times, ABC News, The Washington Post, and even longtime conservative ally Fox News, accusing them of spreading "fake polls from fake news organizations." The post came after new surveys showed Trump's approval ratings hovering at historic lows - 37 per cent according to The New York Times and just 34 per cent in the ABC/Washington Post poll. "Great Pollster John McLaughlin, one of the most highly respected in the industry, has just stated that The Failing New York Times Poll, and the ABC/Washington Post Poll... are FAKE POLLS FROM FAKE NEWS ORGANIZATIONS," Trump wrote, referring to long-time Republican pollster John McLaughlin, a frequent critic of mainstream polling. Trump alleged that these polls were deliberately manipulated to paint a negative picture of his administration's early performance and called for an investigation into what he termed "election fraud" by pollsters. He went on to brand these organizations as "Negative Criminals," saying they consistently underestimate his support and then "apologize to their subscribers and readers" after he exceeds expectations at the ballot box. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Device Is Helping People Beat the Heat Without AC Chill Mate Read More Undo "They suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome , and there is nothing that anyone, or anything, can do about it. THEY ARE SICK," Trump declared, adding that despite relentless negative coverage, his administration was delivering record-breaking results, particularly citing the US-Mexico border situation as '99.9 per cent' secured — a figure he called the "BEST NUMBER EVER." The outburst follows a challenging first 100 days of Trump's second term, marred by widespread criticism over economic turbulence, immigration crackdowns, and a rocky foreign policy start. According to historians and analysts, his current approval figures mark the lowest 100-day rating for a president since scientific polling began during Franklin D. Roosevelt's era. Despite the tensions, Trump in his message added a familiar rallying cry to his supporters: "I wish them well, but will continue to fight to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
