Where to drop off unwanted medications on National Prescription Drug Take-back Day
Many people don't give them a second thought, but leftover medications in your bathroom cabinets could be harmful or even deadly.
While it's important not to leave medications hanging around, it's not as simple as throwing them out or down the toilet, where they can end up in the water supply.

National Prescription Drug Take-back Day is Saturday, April 26.
There are several sites in Erie County where you can take your unwanted over-the-counter and prescription medications for safe disposal.

The Millcreek Township Municipal Building is one such site. Drop-offs can be made from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
'No questions asked. Just have them packaged up, bring them in the containers they were initially prescribed in, or if not, bring them in a ziplock baggie. You just bring them in. We have boxes in the lobby. You just drop them in the box and leave. Like I said, no questions asked,' said Lt. Timothy Ferrick, with the Millcreek Township Police Department.
Other drop-off sites include Erie City Hall, UPMC Hamot Hospital and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Collection sites will not accept illicit drugs or syringes.
