2 men seriously injured in Voluntown car crash
VOLUNTOWN, Conn. (WPRI) — Two men were seriously injured in a crash just over the Rhode Island state line in Voluntown Tuesday morning, according to Connecticut State Police. Troopers were called to Route 165 near Bennett Road just before 5 a.m. to investigate reports of a two-car crash. Police said it appears a man was driving a Land Rover Discovery down Beach Pond Road when he suddenly crossed over the center line and crashed into an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, identified as a 33-year-old Plainfield man, had to be removed from his car by firefighters, according to police. He was flown to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. Police said the driver of the Land Rover Discovery, a 22-year-old South Windsor man, was also seriously injured and brought to William W. Backus Hospital for treatment. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time. Two people seriously injured in head-on collision on Route 165 in Voluntown
State police are investigating a head-on crash early Tuesday on Route 165 in Voluntown that seriously injured two drivers. The two-car crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. in the area of Beach Pond Road, according to Connecticut State Police. State police said a Chevrolet Silverado K1500 driven by a 33-year-old Plainfield man was traveling east on Beach Pond Road when a 2020 Land Rover traveling west crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with the Silverado. The Chevrolet driver was extricated from the vehicle. According to police, he suffered serious injuries and was flown via Life Star to Rhode Island Hospital. The Land Rover driver, a 22-year-old man from South Windsor, was also extricated from his vehicle. State police said he was transported to William W. Backus Hospital with serious injuries. The Collision, Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to the scene to conduct the ongoing investigation, state police said. According to state police, Route 165 was closed for the investigation. Pedestrian struck on CT's I-395 south after being involved in another crash
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Interstate-395 southbound in Griswold and sustained suspected minor injuries on Saturday night, according to Connecticut State Police. A 28-year-old Massachusetts man was struck just after 8:30 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police. State police said the man was involved in a separate crash near Exit 24 on I-395 and walked into the highway's right lane and a Kia Sportage traveling in the right lane and was unable to avoid the man. Police said the man was taken to Backus Hospital and no other injuries were reported from either incident. One person dead, three others injured in collision between dirt bikes, pickup truck in Voluntown
One person was killed and three others were injured when a pickup truck collided with a group of dirt bike riders in Voluntown on Monday. The crash occurred just after 7:30 p.m. on Route 49 near the intersection of Route 138, according to Connecticut State Police. A 64-year-old man from the Jewett City area of Griswold was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 south on Route 49 when the pickup truck collided with three dirt bike riders in the southbound lane, state police said. A fourth rider was able to avoid being struck. One of the riders, 28-year-old Michael Davis of Norwich, was taken to William W. Backus Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to state police. Another rider, a 26-year-old man from the Niantic section of East Lyme, was flown via LifeStar to Hartford Hospital and treated for serious injuries. The third rider who was struck, a 20-year-old man from the Taftville area of Norwich, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Backus Hospital in an ambulance, state police said. The rider who was able to avoid being struck, a 25-year-old Voluntown man, did not report any injuries, according to state police. The driver of the pickup truck was taken in an ambulance to the Backus Plainfield Emergency Care Center for minor injuries, state police said. 1 dead, 3 injured after pickup truck strikes multiple dirt bikes in Voluntown
VOLUNTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A person is dead and three people are injured after a pickup truck struck three dirt bikes in Voluntown Monday, state police said. The crash happened around 7:33 p.m. in the area of Ekonk Hill Road on Route 49, state police said. 2 evaluated, 3 displaced in Columbia house fire According to authorities, a grey 2011 Ford was traveling southbound on Route 49 when it collided with the three dirt bikes. A blue Yamaha, a black Talaria TL4000, and a green Kawasaki KX250 were all struck by the Ford. A second Kawasaki was able to avoid being struck. The Ford F150 collided with the dirt bikes in the southbound lane and continued southboundbefore coming to a final rest, state police said. Michael Alan Davis, 26, of Norwich, was taken to William W. Backus Hospital, where he died due to his injuries. One of the motorists sustained serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital via Life Star, state police said. Two others were taken to the hospital with injuries, but the extent is not known.
