Greening programme sees 110 saplings planted in Kapit Bomba headquarters compound

KAPIT (May 7): A total of 110 saplings of various tree species have been planted at the Kapit Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) headquarters compound.
Bomba conducted the greening programme to commemorate World Forest Day yesterday in collaboration with the Kapit Forest Office.
Kapit fire station chief Timothy Barat, who officiated at the event, thanked the Kapit Forest Office for helping to create awareness of the importance of tree planting to counter global warning.
'Forests are valuable natural assets to socioeconomic development as well as ecosystem for various species of flora and fauna, providing a source of clean water supply and oxygen, and stabilising the climate,' he said.
Around 100 participants joined the programme, including staff from the Kapit Forest Office and Sarawak Forestry Corporation.
