Aamir Khan was concerned about his short height when he joined the industry: 'Amitabh Bachchan was number 1, he was six feet tall'

Aamir Khan plays a character with a really short height in his upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. In the trailer one sees his on-screen mother calling him 'Tingu'. While Aamir is known for being a perfectionist and being one of the best actors in the country, he is not very tall in real life. Thus, Aamir has confessed in a recent interview that when he began his career, he was really insecure about his height. In a recent interview, Aamir has opened up on being referred to as 'Tingu', thus saying that he can take a joke at his expense and this is something he has learnt from Javed Akhtar . He said, "Actually, Javed saab once said something about humour that I really agree with. He said a good sense of humour is not just for fun and games, but it actually comes in handy when you're going through difficulties in life. So if you have a good sense of humour at that time, it's like a shock absorber. I think I've always had that ability, and it's a very important part of the film." However, Aamir confessed being concerned about his height in the beginning of her career, and he had doubts whether he could make it. He said, "At the beginning of my career, I was very afraid. Amit ji was number one, and he was over six feet tall. Vinod ji, Shatrughan Sinha—all were very tall. So I was nervous, thinking choti height ke actor ki kuch daal galegi ki nahi galegi (whether a short actor like me would even stand a chance). I was very concerned about that. But as it turned out, it was fine." 'Sitaare Zameen Par' stars Genelia D'souza Deshmukh opposite Aamir. The film is set to release on June 20. It is directed by RS Prasanna.

Aamir Khan Trolled As Fans Discover Sitaare Zameen Par Is A 'Frame-By-Frame' Copy Of Champions

Last Updated: While the film hasn't released yet, Redditors have pointed out similarities between the film's trailer and Champions. Aamir Khan's upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, is facing controversy as fans are learning that the film could be a 'frame-by-frame" copy of Champions, which is the English remake of the Spanish film, Campeones. The trailer for Aamir Khan's film was released recently, and netizens quickly recognised that the scenes were the same as those of the English-language film. Champions is available for viewing on JioHotstar. The film's synopsis on the site reads, 'A disgraced coach mentors a team of intellectually disabled athletes, revealing their surprising abilities and changing his own life." The plot is similar to what is hinted at in Sitaare Zameen Par's trailer. Netizens even posted a frame-by-frame comparison on Reddit. A user commented, 'After the Forrest Gump fiasco, he should have stayed away from remakes or adaptations." Another comment read, 'Luckily, Champions is less popular than Forrest Gump, so fewer people may care. But still not a good look." Another added, 'Perfectionist in copying the film frame by frame." One comment read, 'Even that tubelight falling scene and almost every gag is from the original. I was assuming mamu will put some spin on it, but yeh frame-to-frame remake hai. Story 99 percent same lag rahi hai." As for Sitaare Zameen Pa, in the trailer, Aamir Khan plays a basketball coach mentoring a team of individuals with intellectual disabilities, setting the tone for an uplifting and inspiring story. The makers shared the trailer on their social media and wrote: 1 Tingu Basketball Coach, 10 Toofani SITAARE aur unki journey. As per the trailer, Sitaare Zameen Par strikes an emotional chord while perfectly balancing love, laughter and heartfelt moments. This heartwarming comedy is packed with hilarious scenes that promise to leave audiences both moved and entertained. Adding to the excitement, Aamir Khan Productions introduces ten debutant actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The film also stars Genelia Deshmukh and is directed by R.S. Prasanna. First Published:
