Customers left 'heartbroken' after popular bakery makes announcement over future

Customers of a family-run Italian bakery in Bury dubbed 'a little piece of heaven' say they are 'heartbroken' after it was announced it had been put up for sale. Those behind the Aprillia Italia pâtisserie on Market Street in Ramsbottom, which opened in 2023, announced they had put it on the market. In a statement on their Facebook page they said: "It's with mixed emotions that we announce our beloved Italian family-run pâtisserie in the heart of Ramsbottom is officially for sale. You've become family. "Running this pâtisserie has been a dream come true, filled with joy, laughter, hard work, and unforgettable memories. But after much reflection, we've decided it's time to move our family home, and at this season of life, our greatest calling is with our young children. "Time is moving fast, and we want to be fully present for these fleeting, foundational years. Selling the business allows us the space to do just that. This decision wasn't easy, as Ramsbottom has given us so much. Still, we know it's the right time for the next chapter." "We're now looking for someone who shares our passion for high-quality food and community spirit to carry the pâtisserie forward. It's a special place with a loyal customer base, great reputation, and plenty of opportunity for continued growth." They said they wanted to see it 'continue to flourish in good hands.' One glowing review on TripAdvisor describes it as a 'little piece of heaven in a quiet street' which serves 'heaven on a plate.' And their post was inundated, with more than 75 comments from gutted customers. One said: "Who on earth will be able to produce the beautiful cakes and pastries that you do? x" Another said: "t's heartbreaking to read this. I still remember two years ago we moved to Bury and couldn't find a cake we like until we had a wander around Ramsbottom. "Then we found this lovely place with all the pretty delicious cakes I would be looking forward to come for every weekend. "In a few occasions you also helped me to make birthday cakes which I will never ever forget how tasty and those special cakes you were willing to make for us on short notice. Thank you and I hope you will have a bright next chapter!!!" Another said: "Such a terrible loss for Rammy. Best of luck in the future." Whilst a fourth said: "You're going to be missed, but before that, you're going to be so busy. Authenticity is hard to come by an the age of imitation but you've always been a small slice of Italy in Rammy. Your Tiramasu and Gianduja are the best around. All the best to you all and please share before you sell out for the last time." They later posted saying they had sold out of goodies on Saturday. "Wow, thank you all so much for such a wonderfully busy day!!" they said. "We are so grateful for every single one of you, and will forever hold your beautiful comments dear! "We wanted to reassure everyone, that we will not be going away any time soon; our exciting move will not be for another year, but as these things take time, we wanted to let everyone know. "We will work with any potential new owners to ensure the quality remains true to Aprilia Italia, and their passion is as strong as ours. Grazie mille. Aprilia Italia."
