'I cheated Yash Chopra...' Meet Rishi Kapoor's heroine who failed 8th class, rejected Sunny Deol's film after..., career got ruined, is now..., her name is... This 90s actress had a brief yet notable career in Bollywood. Despite working alongside stalwarts including Rishi Kapoor, Sunny Deol, she decided to quit industry just six weeks after her marriage. We are talking a none other than Sonam Khan, who rose to fame after her 'Tirchi Topiwale' song. Born in 1972 as Bakhtawar Khan, she is the granddaughter of late actor Murad and niece of actor Raza Murad. She began her acting career at the mere age of 15 with the Telugu movie Samrat. Later, she made her Bollywood debut with Yash Chopra's Vijay. The actress once revealed that she initially lied to Yash Chopra about her age to secure the role in the film. Following that, Sonam went on to feature in several movies, including Mitti Aur Sona, Krodh, Pyar Ka Karz, Ajooba, Fateh, Kohraam, Vishwatma, Baaz, and Insaaniyat. But, she catapulted to overnight stardom after her role in the 1989 film Tridev. Despite her early success, Sonam's career took a drastic turn. Just as she was at the peak of her stardom, she chose to quit the film industry and got married. She was reportedly offered to work with Sunny Deol in the film Lutere, but turned down the offer to prioritise her marital life. She met film producer Rajiv Rai, son of Gulshan Rai in 1991, and tied the knot after dating for 3 years. The actress bid adieu to the filmy world after her last film Insaaniyat, released in 1994. Shortly after her marriage, there were rumours about her alleged association with underworld don Abu Salem, which brought her in negative limelight. She then left India, moving to various countries over the next 15 years. In 2001, her marriage to Rajiv Rai ended in separation, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. Now 52, Sonam is currently settled in Mumbai with her son, embracing the role of a single mother and living a life away from the hustle bustle of film industry.

'Tore the magazine…,' This actress was once beaten by her mother for doing a sizzling bold photoshoot, her name is…, got divorced after… Sonam Khan made her Bollywood debut with Vijay in 1988, alongside legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Anil Kapoor. Following that, she became popular for her impeccable roles in films like Ajooba and Tridevi. Moreover, she also captivated audiences with her classic songs, like Tirchi Topiwale , garnering popularity for her bold and charming personality. In 2024, Sonam uploaded a couple of throwback pictures from one of her bold photoshoots that wasn't approved by her parents. After these pictures came out, her mother was so enraged that she slapped her and tore the magazine apart. Once, in an interview Sonam recalled, 'When I got a tight slap! I thought I was gonna look great and was wearing a skin colour short dress which was hidden by the tall grass around. So when the images came out, my mom came with the magazine, gave me a tight slap and tore the magazine up. I may have been bold at that time, but my parents were always very protective of me. Nonetheless, I was always a rebel with a cause. At least that's what I thought!.' For the unversed, Sonam is granddaughter of the veteran actor Murad and niece of Raza Murad. Born as Bakhtavar Khan, the actress changed her name to Sonam on legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra's suggestion. She bid adieu to her acting career, and moved to Europe after her marriage with director, Rajiv Raj in 1991. However, in 2001, the couple decided to part ways, followed by a mutual divorce in 2016. Sonam came back to India in 2023, and is currently living in Mumbai with her son as a single mom.
