Rust Shooting Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Released From Prison

The 28-year-old—who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter over the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins—was released from prison May 23, a New Mexico Corrections Department public information officer confirmed to NBC News. Gutierrez-Reed was discharged on dual supervision, meaning she is still serving a probation term and a parole term. In April 2024, Gutierrez-Reed was ordered to serve 18 months at a correctional facility after being found guilty by a New Mexico jury. A judge overseeing her sentencing said at the time that, as Rust's armorer, Gutierrez-Reed "turned a safe weapon into a lethal weapon" when a live round was discharged from a prop gun held by Alec Baldwin. "I find that what you did constitutes a serious violent offense," the judge told Gutierrez-Reed. "You were the armorer, the one that stood between a safe weapon and a weapon that could kill someone." However, the case against the 67-year-old—who pleaded not guilty—was dismissed with prejudice in July 2024 after prosecutors were accused of hiding evidence. During Baldwin's trial, crime scene technician Marissa Poppell testified that former Arizona police officer Troy Teske—a friend of Gutierrez-Reed's father, veteran Hollywood armorer Thell Reed—had given her live rounds following Gutierrez-Reed's verdict that he believed were related to the Rust case. Poppell testified that she logged the ammunition under a different case number as a "supplemental report," but denied allegations from Baldwin's legal team that it was intentionally done so to bury it from the defense. Baldwin's attorneys said they were never informed of the ammunition Teske provided and argued that it would've been "favorable" to the 30 Rock alum's defense had they known of its existence. According to Baldwin's wife Hilaria Baldwin, the actor has experienced a "mental health decline" since the shooting. "He was diagnosed with PTSD," she shared in a February episode of The Baldwins, "and he says in his darkest moments, 'If an accident had to have happened this day, why am I still here? Teddi Mellencamp Has Multiple Brain Tumors, Will Undergo Surgery
Originally appeared on E! Online Teddi Mellencamp is facing another health scare. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared she has been diagnosed with multiple brain tumors. 'For the last several weeks I've been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches,' Teddi shared on Instagram Feb. 12. 'Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months.' The former Bravo star shared that she's having emergency surgery on Feb. 12 to remove two of the masses, adding, "The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date." Teddi—who is mom to kids Slate, 12, Cruz, 10 and Dove, 4, with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave—has been able to find comfort in those closest to her following her diagnosis. "I am so blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health," the 43-year-old concluded her statement. After the Virgin River actor's mother Dawn Searle and stepfather Andrew Searle were found dead at their home in Les Pesquies, south of the commune of Villefranche-de-Rouergue in France, prosecutors shared an update Feb. 11. Andrew had appeared to die by suicide, according to post-mortem examinations obtained by the BBC, while Dawn suffered "multiple blows to the head with a blunt and sharp-edged object." However, authorities in the city of Rodez—who are leading the investigation—have emphasized that the circumstances surrounding their Feb. 6 deaths are still unclear. "The investigation is ongoing," prosecutors noted in a statement to the BBC, "particularly to determine whether the tragedy resulted from a domestic crime followed by suicide or involved a third party." 4 Soccer Players Killed After Being Struck by Lightning During Game

Four female soccer players were killed after being struck by lightning after a storm interrupted their match in rural Colombia Feb. 9, according to multiple reports. After seeking shelter from the storm, Jeidy Morales, Daniela Mosquera, Luz Lame and Etelvina Mosquera—who hailed from nearby Piedras Negras—were ultimately struck and killed by the lightning, local outlet Cauca Hoy reported. The tragedy took place in the village of El Real, Casas Bajas, located within the town of Cajibio. 'The women were participating in a football tournament when the emergency occurred,' government spokesperson Lesly Valencia said following the incident, per National World. 'A lightning bolt struck a tree and that was what caused the death of the four women.' The victims had been participating in a weekly soccer championship organized Cajibio's municipal administration, Piedras Negras action board president Elmer Giovanny Mosquera told Cauca Hoy. The report also noted that two other women were left with serious burns as a result of the lightning strike. In a message shared on the Cajibio municipal government's Facebook page Feb. 11, mayor Diana Carolina Cabanillas Valencia extended "deepest condolences" to the victims' families and friends. "We join together in solidarity with their families and friends at this difficult time, sending them our deepest condolences," the Spanish-language post read.
