Housefull 5 box office Day 2: Akshay's film off to a flyer, crosses Rs 50 crore
'Housefull 5' is off to a flying start at the Indian box office. Featuring a powerhouse cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, and Sanjay Dutt, the comedy entertainer has already outperformed its previous instalments, according to early estimates. Released on June 6, the film opened with a strong Rs 24 crore. However, it's the Day 2 numbers that truly turned to industry tracker 'Housefull 5' earned approximately Rs 30 crore nett on Day 2, marking a significant 25 percent jump from its opening day collections. With this, the film's total earnings have surged past Rs 50 crore, currently standing at an estimated Rs 54 crore. In comparison, its predecessor, 'Housefull 4' crossed the Rs 50-crore milestone only on its third Day 2, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 37.97 percent, with the highest footfall observed during the night shows. 'Housefull 5' also outperformed Akshay Kumar's January release 'Sky Force' (Rs 11.50 crore nett) and last year's Bollywood blockbuster 'Fighter' (Rs 22.50 crore nett) in terms of opening day by Sajid Nadiadwala's banner, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Today Digital's review of 'Housefull 5' notes, 'The good thing about 'Housefull 5' is that it looks like a nice commercial entertaining package. But, it's not for everyone's taste. The cringe comedy, where creepy men are lusting over women's bodies and making jokes out of beating birds and monkeys, does not make for very heartening humour. It also feels artificial at one point, as if the audience is being forced to throw a chuckle here and there.' IN THIS STORY#Akshay Kumar#Abhishek Bachchan#Riteish Deshmukh#Sanjay Dutt

Thug Life box office Day 1: Rs 17 crore for Kamal Haasan film, fails to beat Indian 2
Actors Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan's 'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam, opened on a decent note at the box office in India. With the film releasing on a Thursday (non-holiday), it is expected to see a drop in numbers on Friday, followed by an incline in numbers during weekends. Looking at the initial trade reports, 'Thug Life' has failed to beat the Day 1 collection of Haasan's previous films, 'Indian 2' and 'Vikram'.advertisementAccording to tracking website Sacnilk, 'Thug Life' earned Rs 17 crore nett (Gross minus taxes) at the domestic box office on its first day in theatres. This is a solid number if we take into account the Karnataka ban. A report claimed that the film earned Rs 13.89 crore nett in its advance by Kamal Haasan's last three films, 'Thug Life' earned its lowest on Day 1. His previous film, 'Indian 2' with director Shankar, which was panned by the audience, collected Rs 25.6 crore nett on its first day. Haasan's 'Vikram', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which ended up as one of the highest-grossing films in his career, recorded Rs 32.05 crore on Day 1 in theatres. 'Thug Life' faced a ban in Karnataka after Kamal Haasan's controversial remark about the Kannada language. As the film released in other parts of the country, it has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Hence, the gangster drama will have a tough task at the box office. advertisementIndia Today Digital reviewer, Janani K, rated the film 2.5 out of 5 stars and wrote, "When the second half begins, you are 're-introduced' to Rangaraya Sakthivel, Mani Ratnam's screenplay falls into a deep pit, and drags us with him. The problem? There is no way back! The second half follows the most generic tropes to resolve the high stakes set in the first half. The emotional core with which the film begins - showcasing Sakthivel's promise to Amar - is completely lost as the film takes random detours."Apart from Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan, 'Thug Life' also features Trisha Krishnan, Ali Fazal, Nasser, Joju George, Bagavathi Perumal, Abhirami and Ashok Selvan in supporting InTrending Reel

Bhool Chuk Maaf box office Day 1: Rajkummar Rao's film sees a slow start
Karan Sharma's time loop comedy 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi had a modest start at the box office on Friday. The film earned Rs six crore on its opening per early estimates, 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' registered an overall 19.36 per cent occupancy in the Hindi 2D category across India on its opening day. Morning shows started slow with just 9.40 per cent occupancy but saw a steady rise, peaking at 31.27 per cent by the trailer here: The film fared better than Rajkummar Rao's last film, 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video', that had earned Rs 5.5 crore on day one of its release. However, it lagged much behind the actor's 'Stree 2' which minted Rs 51.8 crore on it's opening increase in footfalls during the evening and night shows indicates positive word-of-mouth, a good sign for the film's weekend story follows a soon-to-be-married man who discovers he's caught in a time loop, reliving the day before his wedding over and Today Digital's review of the film reads, 'Directed by Karan Sharma, 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' is an idea with potential, but one that needs more introspection. Time may loop, love may falter, and faith may be tested, but cinema must evolve. Because audiences aren't stuck in yesterday!'A few weeks prior, producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films announced that the film would skip its planned theatrical release on May 9 and instead premiere on Prime Video on May 16, citing heightened nationwide security drills following Operation Sindoor.
