Fact Check: This viral clip that stormed social media is NOT from Israel

A video currently going viral allegedly shows a massive storm that recently hit Israel. The footage shows debris crashing through an underpass at high speed, with people seen running in panic. A woman in a hoodie appears to be filming the scene in selfie mode. Text overlaid on the clip reads, 'Today Israel.' A Facebook user shared this video on May 26 with a Hindi caption that translates to: 'A terrific storm has struck Israel.'advertisementIndia Today Fact Check, however, found that this video dates back to April 2024 and shows a storm in Probe A reverse search of the video's keyframes led us to multiple April 2024 posts on social media. One such Instagram post described it as a storm in Dubai. We also found this video in an April 17, 2024, Daily Mail report about a huge storm that struck Dubai at that time. According to the report, heavy rains caused flooding in Dubai, resulting in airport disruptions and cancelled social media users attributed the video to a vlogger called Polina Nedogon. We found that Nedogon had shared this video on her TikTok account on April 16, 2024, mentioning the location as to Wooglobe, a company that shares user-generated content, Nedogon narrated her experience of the storm. "I had a day of travel, three flights, and a bus to Dubai. Before departure, I didn't know about the upcoming storm. Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, a video began making the rounds on social media showing an Indian Army soldier beating a civilian with sticks. Those sharing the clip claimed that locals in Kashmir got into a fight with the Indian army following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Sharing the clip on Instagram, one person wrote, 'Kashmiri locals fighting with Indian Army. And yes it's April 2025 and after Pahalgam terrorist attack.' advertisementIndia Today Fact Check, however, found that this video predates the Pahalgam attack. The video is from August 2022, when Indian army personnel had beaten up a civilian in PROBE Reverse-searching keyframes from the viral video led us to a news report about this incident from August 22, 2022. According to it, Indian Army personnel hit a civilian with sticks at Nowgam Chowk in Srinagar. This makes it clear that the video predates the Pahalgam attack by almost three then found multiple news reports about this incident from 2022. Amid Pakistan's repeated ceasefire violations following the Pahalgam terror attack, a video showing massive explosions has gone viral. Many Pakistan-based accounts on social media claimed these explosions occurred at a military ammunition depot in India and were carried out by the Pakistani 30-second-long video features several houses, indicating that the area was residential. At some distance, flames from the blasts were visible. Loud explosions could also be heard. A Pakistan-based account shared the video on X and wrote: 'Massive explosions reported at the military ammunition depot in India's Lipa Valley after being targeted by Pakistani forces.'
