Kauaʻi commission begins search for next Police Chief
HONOLULU (KHON2) — Just one day after current Kaua'i Police Chief Todd Raybuck announced his retirement, the Kaua'i County Police Commission has announced the start to search for his replacement.

The Commission looks to gather community input through an online survey designed to collect opinions regarding the traits and qualities the next Chief should possess.
The results of this survey will be used to help guide the selection process.
The public can share their input through the Police Chief Desirable Traits survey until June 30.

Current Police Chief Raybuck is set to retire on June 12.
Officials said the Commission is excited to move forward with the selection process of a new chief, with officers saying it will allow for a much-needed reboot of the department.
'It's something we've been talking about for more than a year now is that this department really needs a complete refresh to start back over to build up what it's lost over the last couple of years,' said Dustin Derollo, SHOPO attorney.
Officers found issues with his leadership style, which caused a lack of trust among officers.

In 2021, he was disciplined for violating the county's policy against discrimination after comments he made at work, and was suspended for three days after he left his gun in a station bathroom.
