It's a working relationship, and as soon as you get the ball rolling, you forget that it's even work,' said Mike Harper, one of the play's directors. JET 24/FOX 66 meteorologists star in upcoming spring Severe Weather Special

(WJET/WFXP) – Familiar faces will be recounting a devastating weather event that occurred decades ago later this week. The JET 24/FOX 66 meteorology team will take a look back at the historic and devastating May 31st, 1985 tornado outbreak. On that infamous day, 44 tornadoes occurred in parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Ontario, Canada. Of those 44 tornadoes, 23 touched down in Pennsylvania, which caused 75 fatalities and 875 injuries. Tom Atkins will look at the two that hit Erie County, which were both an F4 intensity on the Fujita Scale of damage, which runs from 0-5. One tornado hit the town of Albion, and another went north of Corry into New York State. Atkins will look at another F4 that went from the Atlantic into southwest Crawford County and all the way into Forest County. It stayed on the ground for 56 miles. Craig Flint will look into the infamous F5 tornado that started in Newton Falls, Ohio, which went 47 miles into Mercer County, Pennsylvania. It remains the farthest east F5 ever to occur in the United States. And finally, Jacob Matthews will report on the Tidioute Tornado in Warren County, an F3 that cut a 17-mile, 800-yard wide path into the Allegheny National Forest. The show airs at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, on JET. You can also watch it at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, on FOX. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. From the inside to the out, there was something to transform your house into a home. Why travel for vacation when you can take a trip to your very own backyard, patio or even basement? Over 150 vendors were at the Bayfront Convention Center to help homeowners find everything they need for their perfect upgrade. Meteorologist Tom Atkins speaks at Erie Yacht Club seminar 'Our vendors have been very busy. I think there's a wide variety of things here small and large from full patios and backyards to just little projects,' said Ed Snyder, general manager of the Bayfront Convention Center. The Home and Garden Expo is one of their biggest consumer shows of the year. It came in a timely manner as we arrive at the spring improvement season. Spectators could view all the latest technologies including new ways to power your home while saving money. Palmetto Solar is suggesting what they call groundbreaking alternative programs for discounted electricity by utilizing the grid. Spring is here and so is PennDOT construction season in NWPA 'A lot of people are just sick and tired of paying for the upfront cost of the solar program and people are just wanting to find different ways to decrease their electric bill. We're providing the opportunity for people to switch to solar without being able to up front all the costs,' said Lauren Lubarski, regional manager of Palmetto Solar. Consultants from a North Carolina-based clean energy company said although your home has to qualify for the program, it's important that you're confident in the companies you work with. 'Eight-panel minimum but realistically when we're looking at every house, every house is different. We are looking at sun sense, aesthetic sense, financial sense, there has to be immediate day one savings with full guaranteed protection,' Lubarski said.
