Hillcrest St. Patrick's Day Parade returns this Sunday
TOWN OF FENTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – What better way to cap off busy parade day weekend on Sunday than with another Saint Patrick's Day Parade?
Hillcrest, in the Town of Fenton, is celebrating St. Patty's Day this Sunday with a parade down Chenango Street.
This year, there will be four bagpipe bands, several community groups, and local officials.
The parade starts at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 1194 in Hillcrest. It will make its way down Chenango Street before winding down at the Elliot Manufacturing Parking Lot on Nowlan Road.
Town of Fenton Councilman, Tom Moss, says the Hillcrest's parade has become just as much of a tradition as Binghamton's.
'We like to say that we're the parade that compliments the parade weekend here in the Southern Tier, along with the Binghamton parade. We also go by the motto of we're a small community, but a big parade. So, look forward to seeing everyone,' said Moss.
There will be performances by the Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band, Philadelphia Police and Fire Pipes and Drums, the Penn York Highlanders, and BC Celtic Pipes and Drums.
Throughout the parade, people will be walking around collecting donations to support U.S. For Kids, an organization that provides underwear and socks to kids throughout the community.
