Designed by Parker Torres, this multi-million-dollar renovation is deeply rooted in the rich history of the vibrant Seaport District, while offering a vision of its future. The design draws inspiration from the Seaport's industrial past, where fish piers and warehouses once thrived and emerging artists created in loft spaces. 'With this multi-million-dollar renovation, we are the premier destination to stay in Boston's Seaport District. You cannot find a better location in the Seaport with easy access to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, local shops, restaurants, inspiring art, and the Harborwalk,' said General Manager, Tom Walsh. Guest Rooms & Suites The 471 guest rooms and suites celebrate the spirit of the neighborhood. Each room features urban design elements, distinct wood finishes, plush bedding, and bold leather accents. Guest rooms and suites offer scenes of Seaport's striking skyline or vibrant waterfront. Sustainability was a key focus for the new rooms and suites. Products are crafted from recycled, repurposed, and plant-based materials, which help lower carbon footprint and minimize waste. For instance, the window sheers are made from 50% repurposed ocean plastic, and the bed frames are constructed from 95% recycled iron and repurposed railroad steel. Kiwi shot putter Tom Walsh has taken a huge step towards September's World Athletics Championships in Tokyo after producing a season-best throw to win the latest Diamond League event in Rome. Victory in Rome for New Zealand shot putter Tom Walsh
Photo: FILIPPO MONTEFORTE New Zealand shot putter Tom Walsh's stellar 2025 season has continued with victory at the Diamond League meeting in Rome. Walsh, who qualified third for the final, was on song right away, nailing 21.89 with the first of his six attempts, a season's best distance by 18 centimetres. It ultimately proved to be too good for the rest of the field, with Italian Zane Weir coming second with 21.67, three centimetres ahead of Rajindra Campbell of Jamaica, who was third. The win in Rome is Walsh's fifth career victory at a Diamond League event, following successes in Brussels in 2015 and 2019, and Zurich in 2016 and 2018. The win also follows Walsh claiming his third World Indoor Title in February, in China. Two other New Zealanders were in action in Rome. Olympic high jump champion Hamish Kerr was unable to produce his best, finishing just sixth with a height of 2.20. Despite qualifying in first place for the final, he wasn't able to produce his best, failing at all three attempts at 2.23, well below his season's best of 2.32 and his personal best of 2.36. Korea's Woo Sang-hyeok, who finished seventh at last year's Paris Olympics and is a two-time World Indoor Champion, won the high jump, with a leap of 2.32. And 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Imogen Ayris was off the pace in the womens pole vault. She finished eighth recording 4.50, 30cm behind winner American Sandi Morris. Renaissance hotel in Boston unveils multi-million dollar makeover
The Renaissance Hotels property in Seaport District, part of Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio, has completed a multi-million-dollar renovation. The property, located in Boston, Massachusetts, US, now features newly designed rooms and suites, a transformed lobby, and a Club Lounge. The renovation, conceived by design firm Parker Torres, pays homage to the Seaport District's industrial heritage. Renaissance Boston Seaport District general manager Tom Walsh said: "With this multi-million-dollar renovation, we are the premier destination to stay in Boston's Seaport District. 'You cannot find a better location in the Seaport with easy access to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, local shops, restaurants, inspiring art, and the Harborwalk.' The lobby has been transformed with wood finishes and leather accents. The property's 471 guest rooms and suites each feature urban design elements and offer views of the skyline or waterfront. Sustainability played a significant role in the redesign of the rooms and suites. Repurposed, recycled, and plant-based materials were used to reduce waste and the carbon footprint. The bed frames are made from 95% recycled iron and repurposed railroad steel, and the window sheers are crafted from 50% repurposed ocean plastic. The Marriott Bonvoy members-only Club Lounge at the Seaport District property has also been updated, offering a private space and views of the city and harbour. The property is conveniently located eight minutes from Logan International Airport and features 21,000ft2 of meeting and event space, an indoor pool, sauna, fitness centre, and a Peloton room. Dining options include Capiz, which serves seasonal fare and cocktails, and a Starbucks for coffee and snacks. Hamish Kerr wins Diamond League high jump
Hamish Kerr. Photo: © Photosport Ltd 2025 New Zealand's Olympic champion Hamish Kerr has won the men's high jump at the latest Diamond League event in Morocco. Kerr and Shelby McEwen plus Jamaica's Romaine Beckford were the only athletes with perfect records through 2.21m. McEwen couldn't get over 2.25m with his failure clearing the way for Kerr to win. Marco Fassinotti, Aussie Yual Reath and dual athlete JuVaughn Harrison were the only other athletes to clear 2.25m, but the New Zealander won on countback. Kerr is now third in the overall standings. Hamish Kerr. Photo: AFP "It is always amazing to win a Diamond League and I am very grateful for that," Kerr said. "I am also very happy with how my technique and season is progressing. There is still a lot more to come but for now where we are today is very good. "Since Doha it was all about building speed, my first couple of competitions are always quite slow, I come off early heavy strength work and that's why. "This week we were really building on that confidence through my run-up and making sure that I was building speed. It was nice because I was able to do it and now I am just getting a bit more impatient with my take off. I guess you fix one thing and something else breaks so I need to work on that. "Rome is next, I have ten more days to work on that speed. Then I go home for a few weeks to move house before coming back to Monaco," Kerr said. Tom Walsh. Photo: AFP New Zealand's Tom Walsh was sixth in the men's shot put, with his best throw 21.41m. American Payton Otterdahl won ahead of Jamaican Rajindra Campbell and American Joe Kovacs. In the women's pole vault, Imogen Ayris was fourth with fellow New Zealander Olivia McTaggart ninth. New Zealand sprinter Zoe Hobbs was fifth in the women's 100m final, which was won by Jamaica's Shericka Jackson.
