The players Warrington Wolves have chosen for return to Super League action

Warrington Wolves return to Super League action with a trip to Leeds Rhinos on Saturday (Image: Allan McKenzie/ WARRINGTON Wolves' 21-man squad for their return to Super League action has been revealed. Head coach Sam Burgess' selection for Saturday's Round 14 trip to Leeds Rhinos shows just one change from the players he chose from for the Challenge Cup Final against Hull KR. His place in the 21 is taken by forward Tom Whitehead, with Stefan Ratchford set to take Dufty's place at full-back in a starting side that looks set to be similar to the one that was agonisingly beaten in the cup final. Loan move for Warrington Wolves pair including 2025 signing

TWO Warrington Wolves players who find themselves on the fringes of the first team have gone out on loan to the Championship. Winger Alfie Johnson and forward Tom Whitehead will spend at least the next fortnight with London Broncos, who announced their additions on loan yesterday. Both are in contention to make their debut for the capital outfit on Saturday evening when they take on Hunslet and will spend a minimum of two weeks with the Broncos. Outside-backs Jake Thewlis and Zac Bardsley-Rowe had been featuring on loan for Mike Eccles' side in the early weeks of 2024 but both have now returned to the club, with the former in contention for just his second Super League appearance for Warrington against Leeds Rhinos tonight. Rugby union convert Johnson has featured twice for the first team since joining the club during the off-season – he marked his Super League debut with a try in the Round Four loss to Wakefield Trinity but then endured a torrid afternoon in the Challenge Cup fourth-round victory over Widnes Vikings. Loose forward Whitehead started the Challenge Cup third-round at Whitehaven last month but has not featured for the first team since, instead featuring in the two Reserve matches this year as well as twice on dual-registration for Keighley Cougars in League One.
