NCAA Baseball Tournament: Arizona advances to College World Series

Sprecher/Getty Images) Ten teams have an opportunity to advance to the 2025 Men's College World Series with a win in Super Regional play on Sunday. Arizona and North Carolina have a decisive Game 3 in their best-of-3 series while Miami and Louisville, in addition to Florida State and Oregon State are also tied at 1-1. Advertisement Elsewhere in the Super Regionals, Arkansas has a 1-0 lead over defending national champion Tennessee and winning on Sunday would send them to Omaha. LSU also won its opener versus West Virginia, as did Duke over Murray State and UCLA versus UTSA. Coastal Carolina was the first to team to qualify for the MCWS by finishing a sweep of Auburn on Saturday. Arizona 4, North Carolina 3 The Wildcats join the Chanticleers in Omaha, defeating the Tar Heels on their home field. Arizona took a 4-3 lead with a 3-run eighth inning as its first four batters reached base, helped out by an two throwing errors by UNC. Tommy Splaine first scored on a bunt single from Easton Breyfogle. Brendan Summerhill then walked to load the bases and Mason White drove in two runs with a single. A 3-run homer by Jackson Van De Brake gave North Carolina a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning, following consecutive singles from Carter French and Kane Kepley. Arizona starter Smith Bailey was charged with those three runs with five hits allowed, four strikeouts and three walks in six innings. Ryan Lynch pitched seven innings for the Tar Heels, allowing three runs (two earned) with five strikeouts. Walker McDuffie took the loss after he allowed the go-ahead run to reach base in the eighth.

Aaron Walton hits 3 of Arizona's 6 homers and Wildcats drub Cal Poly to reach another super regional
EUGENE, Ore. — Aaron Walton hit three home runs and drove in six runs on Sunday night, leading Arizona to a 14-0 win over Cal Poly and a berth in the super regionals. Maddox Mihalakis added two home runs and drove in three runs. Tommy Splaine added a two-run homer and also drove in three runs for the Wildcats (42-18).

EUGENE, Ore. -- Mason White hit three of Arizona's program-record eight home runs and the No. 2 seed Wildcats beat fourth-seeded Utah Valley 14-4 on Saturday night at the Eugene Regional. Arizona (41-18) can clinch a berth in the super regionals with a win Sunday against the winner of an elimination game between Utah Valley, which beat host and No. 12 national seed Oregon 6-5 on Friday and No. 3 seed Cal Poly — which eliminated the Ducks with a 10-8 win earlier Saturday. Both the Wolverines and the Mustangs would have to beat the Arizona twice to win the double-elimination regional. Tommy Splaine, Brendan Summerhill, Garen Caulfield, Aaron Walton and Adonys Guzman also hit home runs for the Wildcats. Casey Hintz (7-4) pitched three no-hit innings of relief and Michael Hilker Jr. allowed a hit with seven strikeouts over three scoreless innings for his first save of the season. Starter Raul Garayzar lasted just three innings and gave up four runs, three earned. White hit a two-run home run off starter Colton Kennedy (5-5) in the first inning and the Wildcats never trailed. Mason Strong and Dominic Longo II each hit and RBI single in the first, and CJ Colyer and DJ Massey had run-scoring groundouts in the fourth for Utah Valley (33-28).
