STAR eyes 15 seats - Jeffrey

KOTA KINABALU (May 27): STAR president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan revealed that the party aims to contest 15 state constituencies in the upcoming Sabah State Election.
'It is no secret — about 15 seats,' he told reporters when asked about the number of constituencies the party plans to contest.
He emphasized that this does not conflict with STAR's alliance with Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) regarding seat allocations, noting that discussions are ongoing with PBS as well as within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
'In GRS, we must resolve this seat issue before holding discussions with other parties,' he said at the Palace Hotel on Tuesday during the launch of the Petronas Kaamatan film Tonorindak Olisi (Crown of Love).
Jeffrey noted that several rounds of discussions have already taken place and will continue. 'It's a healthy process. The final decision will be made before the election,' he added.
'Personally, if I had the ability, I would like to contest all the seats. But of course, we cannot do that as we are part of a group and must share. That is our hope — to get extra seats because we believe we have the capability to win. We will put our views forward,' he said.
Parties under the GRS coalition include STAR, PBS, Gagasan Rakyat, Parti Cinta Sabah, United Sabah National Organisation (Usno), Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah.
