#SHOWBIZ: Scha Elinnea: It's okay if fans are more interested in my personal life

KUALA LUMPUR: Young actress Scha Elinnea acknowledges that the line between her private life and public persona is often blurred, an inevitable aspect of celebrity. The 26-year-old artiste recently said that she doesn't particularly mind when fans show more interest in her personal life than her professional work. "I don't mind if fans want to know my personal life story. That's part of being in this industry," said Scha, whose real name is Nur Azleen Natasha Mohamed Mubeen. "Of course, when people say bad things about me, sometimes it can hurt too." However, she generally doesn't take such comments to heart, especially when they come from individuals she doesn't know personally. "Instead, I take it as a challenge to improve and move ahead in this line of work. People can make whatever assumptions they want. At the end of the day, I know where I stand," explained Scha, adding that her family, particularly her mother, are her staunchest supporters. She shared these thoughts with reporters at a recent fan meeting with the cast of 'Anak-Anak Mafia', here. Scha is part of the ensemble cast for the drama series, which is set to stream on Tonton from June 12. Directed by Suhaimi Zulkfeli, the series also features Mierul Aiman, Fitri Farok, Fariz Isqandar, and Zhen Ning.

#SHOWBIZ: Passion drives Siti Hariesa

ACTRESS Siti Hariesa, who gained recognition through the 2019 drama 'Utusan Cinta Buat Adam', admits to having gone through a period of intense mental struggle due to the exhaustive demands of her artistic commitments. "Acting is a struggle; I've certainly experienced all of it. However, no matter what field you work in, there are always challenges to overcome," said the 27-year-old artiste. "For me, the challenge throughout my acting career is related to mental and physical health. There are times when I feel utterly drained from lack of sleep and spending too much time on set." Despite this, the Segamat-born actress is grateful for the consistent flow of job offers throughout her career. A deep-seated passion for what she does also helps to make her carry on despite the mental struggles. "Thankfully, so far, I've never faced the problem of not having a job offer; everything has been made easy. There may be times when I feel physically overwhelmed, but I am determined to keep moving forward." The actress, whose full name is Siti Hariesa Muhammad Hanafi, makes a point of finding opportunities to reward herself, allowing her to recharge and return with renewed enthusiasm. "There's definitely time for myself. If it's a day off, I'll spend it on myself. But I don't really do anything elaborate; I just spend a lot of time relaxing at home. "Of course, I work hard to earn money and accumulate assets. Now, I can support myself, and I also think about rewarding myself, including helping my family." Regarding her acting career, Siti Hariesa is open to working with any male actor and doesn't pick and choose her co-stars. "I don't choose who I'll be paired with because I don't know how compatibility can be fostered if I don't try. "I was surprised to be given the opportunity to work with Shukri Yahaya and Amerul Affendi in the 'Bru' Tonton series. "There were times when I wondered if I could build good chemistry with my co-stars, but in the end, it went smoothly. So, I can't decide who I want to work with." Siti Hariesa also eagerly anticipates opportunities to work with senior actors and is ready to give her best. "I enjoy working with 'senior' actors; in fact, I always hope to work with them," she told BH Online. "But I don't feel small or dwarfed when I'm with them. I'm still new, but I know I can do it. That's the most important thing. "I want to give my best, whether in front of the 'seniors' or the audience." Siti Hariesa can now be seen in action in Nik Amir Mustapha's drama series, 'Bru', which began streaming on Tonton in early May.

#SHOWBIZ: Seseri third school to host Tonton Gen+ Suai Kenal Sekolah programme

KUALA LUMPUR: In collaboration with TV3, Tonton, DIDIKTV KPM, and partner SAFI Shayla, the Tonton Gen+ Suai Kenal Sekolah corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme aims to provide school students with early exposure to the arts industry while fostering well-balanced individuals. The third instalment of the programme was held today at Sekolah Menengah Sains Seri Puteri Kuala Lumpur (Seseri), following two previous successful events. This session saw the participation of 344 students from Form 2 to Form 5. Ali Iskandar Othman, General Manager of TV3 and Tonton Content Marketing, highlighted that the initiative offered students a direct opportunity to engage with the featured artistes. "While students at this boarding school are known for their academic excellence, we also want to expose them to the outside world, particularly to personalities they typically only see on TV or social media," he said. "We want them to understand that pursuing an interest in the creative industry is possible without sacrificing their education." "That's why we carefully vet the personalities we invite," Ali added. "They come and share their experiences of balancing their education with exploring their creative side." He further elaborated, "We select artistes and personalities who are not only talented but also have inspirational backgrounds. For instance, the music group Dukes are actively producing music while also being university students. This round, we also have a news presenter, influencers, and actors, offering students a variety of perspectives." Ali noted the positive feedback from both students and teachers, expressing his hope for the programme's continuation next year. The event was enlivened by the presence of popular celebrities, TV hosts, and social media influencers, including Hariz Hamdan, Apich Lo, Dukes band, Syafiq Adnan, Amirulhakim Lokman, Risk Saidon, Aizat Saha, and Nisa Kay. They shared their life journeys, challenges, and valuable experiences with the students. Tonton Gen+ Suai Kenal Sekolah is designed to spark self-confidence, instil a positive spirit, and empower students through engaging activities that promote communication, talent exploration, and self-development. This initiative underscores Media Prima Television Networks' ongoing commitment to inspiring and shaping the future of the younger generation across the nation.

#SHOWBIZ: Wedded bliss continues for Siti Saleha and husband

STILL in their honeymoon phase three months into marriage, actress Siti Saleha shared her bliss with husband Joshua Fitton. "These past three months as husband and wife have been so enjoyable, like an extended honeymoon. It feels as though we've been married much longer," she said. Siti Saleha credits their comfortable dynamic to their long history. "Perhaps it's because we've known each other for such a long time. He's my lover, husband, and best friend all in one. He's incredibly calm and consistently brings joy to my life," she told Berita Harian at a recent drama screening. Despite being married to a fashion designer, the 35-year-old artiste revealed Joshua doesn't dictate her style. "Being married to a fashion designer is convenient, especially for Raya clothes. However, he never controls what I wear. In fact, I'm usually the one asking for his opinion." She noted her evolving style perspective. "Maybe 10 years ago, he was more focused on style, but as he's matured, it's become less of a priority for him. "My husband has always been supportive of my choices. He wants me to be myself." She added: "His everyday attire is quite casual, but for formal events, he looks incredibly handsome in a suit. I appreciate his relaxed approach now; it suits him." Sharing her marital principles, the actress, whose full name is Siti Saleha Mohd Baharum, emphasised trust. "When we're apart, we're not the type to constantly video call. Even when we do connect, it's usually just a quick hello and a chat about important matters. "Frequent video calls feel a bit awkward for us. Perhaps the strong foundation of trust we have eliminates the need for that," she explained. Regarding children, the actress of English and Malay heritage said they are open to the blessing of having kids without specific plans. "If God grants us children soon, we will wholeheartedly accept it. My husband really desires children. I've told him it's all in God's hands." She added, "We genuinely want children, and at 35, we aren't actively planning or delaying it." The Outstanding Asia Star Award winner at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2024 for her lead role in the Tonton series 'SeOfis', shared her perspective on family questions. "Right now, I don't feel pressured by questions about children. We've only been married for three months and are still enjoying our honeymoon phase. "I don't feel any resentment when people ask. If it's meant to happen, it will. Please pray that we will be blessed with children soon." Siti Saleha and Fitton wed three months after their private engagement in Janda Baik, Pahang, on Feb 15. Previously, the star of TV3's '7 Hari Mencintaiku' was married to Ahmad Lutfi Azhar from 2017 to 2022.

#SHOWBIZ: Umie Aida apologises to Rosyam Nor for kicking him in the face

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Datin Seri Umie Aida has apologised to actor Datuk Rosyam Nor for a scene in the drama series Keluarga Itu, currently airing on TV3, in which she had to kick him in the face. In a recent Instagram video, the 52-year-old award-winning actress, whose real name is Umi Khalsum Rahmad Ali, explained that the action was necessary to convincingly portray her character, Chempaka. "Dear abang (Rosyam), I want to apologise for that, despite you allowing me to do so as required by the script. But it was difficult for me to do. "I also want to extend my apology to your family, your children and grandchildren. I've never done that to anyone else either," she said. The apology video followed the broadcast of the scene in Keluarga Itu where Chempaka (Umie) kicks Iman (Rosyam) in the face for raping their own child, a scene that has gone viral on social media. Rosyam, or Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin, 58, responded by saying that he understood it was part of their job as actors. "It's okay, Umie, this is part of our work. We have acted together so many times and for a long time. "We are already like siblings," he said. Rosyam last worked with Umie in the 2008 film Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang, directed by the late Mamat Khalid. Since its premiere in February, Keluarga Itu has become a trending topic on social media, with viewers discussing its storyline, which includes the issue of incest. The drama series also stars Fattah Amin, Puteri Balqis, Amir Ahnaf, Izara Aishah, and Muaz Zabir. It airs every Friday to Sunday at 9 pm on TV3 and can also be streamed via Tonton.
