The winner of Game 3 will advance to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. Georgia pitcher Lilli Backes recorded eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings. She allowed no earned runs and secured her 16th win of the season. Advertisement "Yeah, just super proud of our group," said Georgia softball coach Tony Baldwin after the win. "You know, I thought we came out, with some fire to start the game and had a good plan and, got a couple good swings off and then Lilli really was the story of today, of just how resilient she is. Again, we just keep talking about relentless competitiveness and you have to do that all the way to the last out and certainly when you're playing a team like Florida with so many weapons and such a good team, if you let up and stopped competing for a second, you're going to be in trouble." Georgia starting pitcher/relief pitcher Lilli Backes Emily Digby and Lyndi Rae Davis both had solo home runs for the Georgia offense. The Bulldogs will look to win another game on the road to compete an impressive upset of the No. 3 national seed Gators. Georgia will play Florida in Game 3 on Sunday. The first pitch time is still to be announced. This article originally appeared on UGA Wire: UGA softball beats Florida, nears Women's College World Series
